still low boost

alright so i just replaced the tb shaft seals that took me longer then it really should. And im still making 8.5 ish psi, ive done BLT it doesnt hold air for too long i have to fix a tiny leak at biss screw and thats all i can find. im not sure how to check the bov or the smic cause i cant really spray water in there. so im thinking it eather maybe the smic (all clamps and down) or the turbo that i rebuilt myself. any ideas?

remove the inner fender and then you can check the smic. i use soapy water or just listen sometimes there pretty loud. you gotta be able to find something if its loosing air that fast

could i hook the BLT at the ic piping and just run it right there? i read somewhere that u can hook it up at like the j pipe or the piping before it and check if its the turbo causing problems or not


im thinking its my turbo seals, cause of a cupple reasons.. one when i do the BLT it leaks into the vc alot and the dipstick, also if i let my car idle for a while it blows some blue smoke for a second so maybe that could be the cause but ill try the smic first.

You can hook the tester up anywhere you like. You might be in the early stage of a turbo going south, The smoke at idle isnt a good sign. Check it for play.

Typically when I do a BLT (monthly) I pull the intake off the turbo and run it there, if it holds boost to 30psi then I pull the tester and go about my business. If you suspect a leaky bov then hook it up to the UICP that connects to the TB and see if you hold boost there. If so re-attach and connect to the UICP just before the intercooler... go down the line, even testing at the IC pipe connection on the intercooler and see if its leaking.
