hey guys today i was thinking what to do with my 1g eclipse and i didn't make my mind yet,i ws thinking to sell it and get a 2g GSX.the thing is why i want to sell my 1g eclipse is that im tired to put money in it,i have fixed almoust every minor thing. and it still need to be suspension, tranny, and some other little things done.
so tell me guys if youre in my shoes what do you do??? sell my 1g and get a 2g or keep with my old one?? i think those 2g are not that bad that 1g,plus i think you dont need to spend that much money that i spent on my 1g into the 2g m i right???

imo, if you want performance stick with the 1g, the 6 bolt is proven. if you want appearence go with the 2g.(1gs can be sexy too):dsm: :dsm:

but you see if ill get a 2g with 6bolt swap i think it would be great, cause like i said in my last post i need alot of $ to fix my old 1g would it be better to get a lightly moded 2g gsx???

I think you are going to get alot of biased opinions on this on from guys who are 1G or 2G lovers....If it was me I would keep the 1G, yes its a black hole for money now but when its done right the car will be a great DD you can trust, plus I am just to damn stubborn to give up on my 1G.....Bascially keep the 1G, to much into to just start over

You dont think youll have to put money into the 2g? Not even calculating the difference in cost that it will cost you to sell your 1g and buy the 2g.
Depending on the car you get it could've been poorly maintained and beat up, you could have to dump thousands into it like any other old DSM.
You've come this far with your car, your going to give up now?
haha
I would keep the 1g.

i know that a lot of peoples keeps their 1g for performance, but there is no point to get 1g fwd heavy moded cause its not worthed right?? i think if you go to a 1/4 mile you not gonna pas the 11 sec with a fwd m i right??

Any car will be a money pit. It has been my exsperience that whenever I have switch cars thinking it was going to be cheaper I alway ended up just losing a bunch of money. I would stick with the 1G. You are right about the FWD but what are your HONEST goals for this car?

did you actually read the quarter miles times?
Although I am partial to AWD, FWD can be just as devastating. Just because you see more people with AWD making those times, doesn't mean you can't.

And are you really going to build a 10second or below car?

If it was me I would buy a 2g gsx. But im also biased because thats what I intend on buying. It all depends on what your goals are for the car. If you want a car that will be a track warrior and and run 10 second quarters, then a 1st gen is the way to go. But if you want a weekend warrior and something that will turn heads. Get the 2g gsx.;) Just my 2 cents though.

stay 1G, only thing sexier is a 2G with a 6 bolt, but #### all that noise. Go 2G if you want looks, but if you are talking about getting a gsx then you obviously want performance. You will be missing the 1g powerplant. I personally dont like the way a 2g drives.

You already have the 1g, plus more importantly you already know what the issues are with the car. If you sell it, and get a 2g, you could be in for a whole new world if issues and problems that have been bandaided so the car could be sold.
I have owned both a 1g and a 2g. The only reason i sold my 1g, is the 1g was 100% stock where the 2g was pretty modded, and i needed a family car for my daughter.
Id just stick with the 1g, and go from there...

I also agree with staying with the 1g, The amount you will sell your 1g for then have to buy a 2g will be a big difference. I myself have a 2g but am a lover of both gens and have had both gens 5spd and auto, and they are both money pits if your going to be modding. You stated you need trans work and suspension well look at this, Suspension get used kyb and eibach springs from someone off this classifieds or the trader and spend no more than 300 bux most likely then goto dogbox transmissions or turbo trix(you are in PA, its not too far of a drive) and they rebuild 5spd tranny's for about a grand and their double synchroed and a good built trans, so for under 1500 bux you'll be a DD 1g, also like said above 1g's can be very sexy...THATS MY OPINION :)

I love all 1g and 2g dsms no matter what they look like. Even if it's a grandma driving i'll comment on her nice 1g.

Keep the 1g in my opinion. Do what you have to to keep the car actually running. A 2g gsx can range from 8-14k give or take. You might be able to let your 1g go for 1-2k with the problems you have listed.

You'll love yourself more if you keep your 1g. You put all that time and money to fix your 1g and it's almost there. When you sell it you'll probably have to do alot of similar fixes on the 2g reguardless of what the previous owner said.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his 1g as you do. He sold it for dirt cheap ($650) and he regrets it and is now looking to sell his srt4 to get another dsm whether it be 1g or 2g.

well like some of the guys said if i want a nice looking car get a 2g gsx and if i want a performance i shoild stay with 1g i want both my goal is to make 450 whp and make my car look really sexy, but i know its not gonna be posible cause there is nutting made sexy for 1g i dunno maybe i dunno where to look for a exterior parts but thats what i think

Depends on your definition of sexy. To me a hard 1g pulling up at the light with some nice rims and meaty tires, raked drop, clean paint job and a lumpy idle is sexy LOL...

I dont think my car is half bad, yea I mean 2g has the looks department if your strictly about fashion but lets look at it this way,

the money you spend on buying a 2g in the first place shouldve been enough to fix your 1gs problems unless you get it dirt cheap. Then the money to fix and do basic maintance on your 2g couldve again went to the 1g. Then you want 450 hp, yea you could 6bolt the 2g but how much more money is that? You have a 6bolt now, therefore say you even did need a rebuild right, the money of 6bolting the 2g would bought you enough to rebuild your 1g engine now. Then on top of that, 1gs are lighter, and there a needle in a haystack ( at least over here ) as in I dont see very many 1gs as opposed to 2gs I see them often no matter if there turbo or n/a.. Id rather drive something less seen on the road personally. Now a 2g would be a nicer looking car, but remmeber thats all in opinion, to me the better car is the car flying across the finish line . . .:thumb: :dsm:

i see guys wekk i decided to stay with the 1g cause like someone told me here that if ill buy a 2g im gonna pay like 9-11k for that plus everything would be from start again so im keep puting my $$$ into a money eater LOL LOL
one more question:
what should i get first the whole fuel system or 3" turboback exhaust with the o2 housing? and what is the average of cost of the exhaust ??? thanks alot...

your car is stock you mean and you want to know what mod?
Well firstly fix those problems you were saying the 1g has. Then do a full tune up
and just make sure the car is good. Then with modding, ( supposing your stock I didnt look at your profile ) I would open the intake path with a knN filter and hardpipes, and that should be cheap and simple enough and do all the free mods in the tech guide.
If you dont have a fuel pump get that first, a 190lph walbro should do the trick because a 255 you will need a afpr. Once thats done, then go with exhaust Id say go full three inch all the way back. The reason I said do the fuel pump first before exhaust is most likely once you do exhaust you may experience a little boost creep and you dont want to overboost on a stock fuel system because thats another problem in itself. For creep fully port the turbo w.g./ or buy an external wastegate and then you should be good. Exhaust systems from venders are a little pricey, I did my whole 3in custom, I used the stock dp flange cut the pipe off used a plasma cutter and made the inlet hole 3in then welded up 3in dp onto it and then took it to a exhaust place and had them run 3in pipeing off the 3in dp I made. And they installed a Ractive muffler i bought, I payed less than 130 for everything.
