Toronto,
They are Absolute crap they make the car stiffer but to the point that it drives and feels like a tank the vibration are so bad you can't here the music in the car blasted up more than half way on JBL speakers. LOL spent an entire day putting them in, and took them all out and replaced them with stock ones 15min after driving with the prothane ones. Its a shame i tought the vibrations would be minor but it turns the car into a very loud massage machine. Anyone else here have such a bad experience with these mounts. By the way my car is a 1992 TSI

Can't really call them crap because you didn't like the way the car felt with them installed, thats what they're supposed to do.

Every performance upgrade has its tradeoff. Less front wheel hop and engine movement for a little bit of engine vibration isn't too bad IMHO. I know I had to take all other keys off of the keyring because they rattled and drove me nuts. I personally love the way my car feels with big cams and prothane mounts.

Did you install just the front and rear inserts, or all 4.

What did you expect? Youre taking out basically everything that absorbs the vibrations from the motor. This is why most people don't use them unless it is a car used most for the track.

I also have them in my car (Motor not in yet). I know it will shake alot but hey I gotta do whatever it takes to get my FWD car to help hook. :) :)

I guess it also depends on your car becasue I have all 4 installed and I barely noticed a difference... When the AC is on, I get a little vibration... like the others have said, Its fine as long as it helps get rid of wheel hop...

Dude, don't bash something that does EXACLTY what its supposed to do.

These are not for the people that like, smooth, quiet rides thats for sure. Searching/asking those who had these mounts would have saved you the time and agrivation.

PM me if you want to get rid of them, I know someone that is interested in some prothane mounts.

I have prothane mounts in my car (all 4) and I love them. I also have the balance shafts removed and the engine is completely balanced so I'm sure that makes a big difference. You might want to keep them around if you ever have plans of a balanced motor.

Vibration is normally experienced after you install Prothanes. That is because they stiffen up the mounts so they have less play and less of a dampening affect. And there is noticable benefits from this.

The amount of vibration is opinionated and will vary from person to person. Just because you don't like them does not mean they are crap.

PS - If you search, you'll find that increasing your idle slightly will greatly reduce the amount of vibration.....
