Well I searched around awhile on here for anyone with a similar problem but my specific search/problem hasn't gotten me anywhere so I'm posting a new thread. Will delete when solved.

98 GS-T starts just fine and was driving perfectly fine until yesterday. I was getting on it somewhat not over doing it by any means but I was moving my car because I moved recently and haven't driven my car in awhile so I wanted to have a little fun while I was moving it. Well to make the story shorter I'll say this, I was in 3rd gear about 40-50mph approaching a corner, clutch in and downshifting and Rev matching and thought I had gotten into gear, well as I was in neutral trying to make the turn and realized quickly I'd lost all power/input from the transmission. Checked all fluids everything and nothing was leaking or off anywhere that I could see, when I pressed the clutch in it wouldn't make any sound but as soon as I let off it was like someone putting metal on concrete and dragging it ever so slightly that it barley made sound. So it is kind of grinding but you'd never notice it if the car was still driving unless you were at a red light and barley heard it. That's how little noise it makes. Had to tow it back to my brother's house to try and evaluate it but I haven't got the chance to go back and look at it. I have a general idea of what it could be and these are my guesses.

Clutch
Input shaft
Broken axle
Throw out bearing
Bad connection to a solenoid
Broken shift fork.

I have decent mechanical knowledge so don't sugar coat anything, I appreciate and value any responses or suggestions. If you can't get ahold of me on here quickly dm me and I'll shoot you my phone number so i can understand a little more in depth by hearing someone explain it verbally. If it's a known issue and I'm just having a brain fast I'll absolutely delete the thread.

Thanks.

You will want to have some one watch the slave to verify that when you press the pedal the slave pushes on the fork. Or you can set up your phone to video it while you do it.
Okay, thanks for the advice I appreciate it. I replaced the master and slave when I bought the car 2 years ago but I'll check that as soon as I can and update

Are you sure it isnt going into gear? I've seen a clutch break essentially leaving the car as if you pushed cutch in. Trans goes into gear fine but you won't transmit any power that way. Easy to rule out. Just look at the linkage while somebody shifts. Watching the slave as somebody suggested is a good idea also but typically you'll get griding when you try and shift because it's the same as not pushing in the clutch.

Yes, I should've been more specific my bad. The transmission itself still goes into gear. Its like the clutch isn't grabbing at all. But, my clutch has plenty of pushback when I press it. I just would have thought that I'd have had slipping first before it went completely but you might be right. I'll have to check that out here soon

Yeah I can put the shifter in all 5 gears and reverse, but when I press the clutch in it doesn't do anything. When I let out of the clutch I hear a little chatter but nothing that would make me super concerned like a completely mutilated Trans or anything. But super strange the way it happened

if you put the car in teh air and put it in a high gear try to spin the motor by hand. In a higher gear you won't be able to. If you can I would suspect clutch is gone or worse.
Okay,
thats not what I mean. Shut the car off, car on jackstands put it in 5th and try to turn the motor over by hand. You shouldn't be able to. If you can clutch is broken or trans is broken.
Gotcha, I'll do that then

Went and Got the car to move today when i started it, pretty certain it's just the clutch. It did go into gear and moved some but didn't want to do much more than that got it to move a block or two and it started doing the same thing again. So I assume it's the clutch gonna start taking it apart soon thanks for the help 🙂
