Little background. Installed AEM 850's with bypassed resistance box. I have evoscan and Ecuflash and a H8 ecu programmed with Ceddymods. Adjusted the latency and scaling accordingly to the spec sheet that came with the injectors as a good starting point. I also have a 255 lph fuel pump that is rewired. Previous to installing these injectors I was also every once in a while having starting issues as if it were flooded. I assumed my injectors were going out and getting stuck open as I have been running them close to their peak duty cycles for quite some time.
I already checked my Spark Plugs and for whatever reason they were out of spec from .28 and were actually at .35. I corrected this, but no help. So i replaced them with NGK bpr7es's (Had Iridium ones of NGK before that) to make sure the existing ones were not fouled. Still no help. Hot starts are slightly better, requiring maybe 5 seconds of cranking but cold starts require a good 20 seconds of cranking to get it to turn over. And once it does you smell gas for just a sec or two.
Curiously once its running, it runs fine for the most part. Afrs seem to be fine, and power is there, and logs show no signs of knock. I have messed with both the latency values and Scaling size to get my fuel trims within 5-10 percent. Unfortunitely it is hard to fine fine tune as Ecuflash likes to jump to numbers and not be exact. Ex. Scaling is set to 838 instead of 850 it wont allow anything other than 838 or 862. And latency values are similar, can only adjust by .010-.015 increments either way.
Idle trims are around -8 to -10, so it appears I'm still running rich at idle, but when I change my latencies to compensate, it idles MORE rough and seems to have a slight delay when giving throttle the lower I put the latencies. And the starting issue continues to persist. My battery voltage sticks between 13-14 volts at idle as well so its fairly stable and logs show it does fluctuate as it should.
The fuel pressure regulator is still stock, which i know is not recommended but don't have the cash for a new one at the moment. Worst case I will just throw the 450 stock injectors back in and go back to my original tune. But I would like to figure out why the issue remains with starting while it runs fine once started and has normal afr's. Except at idle when it runs rich.
Any body have any ideas, I have searched the forums and have not found anyone with a similar setup and issue. Some can't start at all. Or have drive-ability issues, but my issues are strictly with starting.
Thanks
