Ok I have had no major problems with my car since the rebuild, Ok Ive been running a little rich because im running a big16g on a stock fuel system at 14psi, and I cant turn the boost up any past that without hitting a fuel cut. So today after a hot day of running it, it wouldnt not turn over. I checked the battery, it sounds like the engine is the problem and not anything electrical, It just wont turn over, I have done a boost leak test already so I know thats not the problem, I also recently changed my fuel filter from autzone, Am i supposed to get an oem from mitsu? It ran fine all day, very strange.

p.s. i did searches with no luck

It just won't turn over?.. Could you be more specific.. What exactly happens when you turn your key, what specificaly do you hear.. You checked the battery, what was the voltage? Are your terminals good and tight? It could be your starter also.

If it isn't cranking, check very carefully for corrosion and loose connections.
Can you hear the starter making any noise?
Can you hear your fuel pump going when you turn the key? (if not, check fuses)

yes i checked all fuses, and yes i checked the battery its working fine, i mean its just not turning over, it sounds exactly like every other day when i start my car except just the same rea rea rea rea, but it doesnt turn over, what does the fuel pump sound like? Ive never been able to hear mine before? I also replaced my spark plugs and wires, NGK bpr7es, did i get the wrong spark plugs? they should be pre gapped.

i just found a thread about the plugs and it says to use bpr6's instead of 7's so ima try that first and see if it works.

Now you said it doesn't turn over. But you just said here that it sounds like any other day when you go to start it, making the"rea, rea, rea" sound. It sounds like you are saying the car turns over, but will not start. If I am reading this wrong, I appologize. However if I am reading this right, make sure that your timing belt has not jumped, and bent the valves in the head. It will make that same sound, but faster due to having no compression.

If I am reading this wrong, and when you turn the key absolutley nothing happes, first check to see if the motor will turn over manualy. Just put a 1/2" ratchet on the crank, and try to turn it over, with the ebrake on, and in neutral. If it turns over freely, another thing that can happen is the neutral safety switch can go bad. You can try and unplug that as well for testing purposes and crank the car over.

If all else fails, check for spark, and make sure that if you are getting fuel to the rail, that your injectors are firing.

Another thing is, make sure it has not crankwalked on you, and taken out the crank sensor, causing it to turn over, but not fire.

how do i check to see if I am getting fuel into my injectors? would the spark plugs have anything to do with it? also ngk's are pre gapped right? thanks

No, you must always check the gap (.28). Worse case to see if you are getting fuel is pull the fuel rail and crank the car to see if the injectors are spraying.

yes sorry its turning over but not starting, i got my words a little mixed up, there is a small amount of oil in #4 spark plug, but i think that its coming from a leak i havent found, sprays a small amount of oil out the top of my valve cover on wot.

wide eclipse yes your right, but it isnt faster its the same speed, would the autzone fuel filter have anything to do with it?

Can you hear your fuel pump going when you turn the key? (if not, check fuses) I dont have a fuse for the fuel pump?

I am also venting but have had no issues with it

Im AT if that helps

To check to see if the injectors are firing, without pulling the rail, pull your plugs out. The take your cam angle sensor off, make sure you check the position of the CAS so you can put it back on the same way.

After you have it off, plug the electrical plug back in, and while the key is on, turn the CAS by hand. You should be able to hear and feel each injector firing. Then look down into the cylinders while you are doing his to see the mist of fuel.

Once you see if it is or is not firing the injectors, put the CAS back on, and then retime the car, once it is running.

ok thanks everyone i found out that it is fuel, i just pulled out a spark plug and turned the ignition and no fuel came out so its either my fuel filter or pump. Thanks guys.

hey guys ok i thought it was the fuel filter but i had fuel in the filter and on the inlet tube and outlet tube were both full of fuel, so is there a fuse for the injectors why would they all just go bad? thanks alot.

This is exactly what I was talking about above. You are getting fuel to the rail, but your injectors are not firing. It either has something to do with the CAS, ECU, or wiring between the two.

It could be the MPI relay next to the ECU, but I have only seen those go bad a handful of times. Check your ECU, then the CAS, and test the CAS like I said above.

alright i checked the engine codes and it said crankshaft positions sensor, dun dun dun, wide eclipse I dont know which one is the crank that i can try to turn it over manually?

ok wait i just thought of something wide eclipse if it did crankwalk then when i tried starting it it wouldnt turn over just not start, so that means that it is turning over freely and i dont need to check that right and its just the sensor that went bad?

Check your CAS first than your ECU. 2G ECU's rarely go and your engine code said Crank angle sensor. If the Crank angle sensor is bad, your car won't start period. It will crank, but won't start. Crank angle sensor gives a signal to the ECU when to fire the injectors. If the ECU doesn't know the piston position and engine speed, it can't fire the amount of fuel needed.

ok guys im a little confused ive been researching old posts on this and some say that the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor, cps cps are the same sensors? Ive check that my car hasnt crankwalked also i read that this sensor is next to the oil filter? I thought it was the sensor that is attached to the left side of the head.

The CAS (cam angle sensor) is attached to the passenger side of the head. The crank angle sensor is down by the crank (on the block, not head). When DSM's crank walk, it's been theorized that the crank gets so much play, that the end of the crankshaft actually hits into and destroys the crank angle sensor.

yes i have already checked by cranking it by hand and it moves freely, can u specifically tell me where this is located? also do i have to buy one from mitsubishi or can i buy it from autozone? also can i check the local junk yards for used ones from 1g's?

90-94 have a cam angle sensor only.
95-96 have both cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor but the cam angle sensor is on the intake cam gear.
97-99 have both cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor is on the passenger side just like a 1g.

Crank sensor is down by the crank pully and has a plug that goes to it.

I suggest getting an OEM replacement. www.jnztuning.com carries mitsubishi parts and the guys there are dsmers so give them a call.

nm i just did more research and 1gs do not have them, grrrr i checked pricing at autzone 90 frecking dollars!!! wth ? would mitsu be cheaper since they had to special order the part?

ok i changed the crank angle sensor and it now cold starts take at least 3 times to start, the car turns over but dies before getting to idle, after the third time it starts and runs fine? Any ideas? new plugs and wires, fuel filter..
