Hello i'm new to the dsm tunning. I have a pretty big issue. I have a 97 eclipse with a 2.0 n/t 5 speed manual. Replaced the old engine and then had to replace the transmission. When the new tranny was mated to the engine the transmission plug closest to the firewall wont plug in. Heres the trouble, right when i put it together i tried starting it with out the cat, and it started right up ran like it did with the old tranny. Next day put all the exhaust together and the number 2 and 3 cylinders would only fire off and run crappy. 1 and 4 were ice cold. Replaced the coil pack and same thing but will only go pop pop with starting fluid. I dont know how something could have gone wrong in one night. Please help me resolve this issue i am preparing to look into replacing the injectors and fuel pump if no reply is sent thank you and i will greatly respect any info sent.:thumb:

no since in replacing the fuel pump and injectors if you know they work. Your having a spark issue so you need to approach step by step. Spark plugs new? Plug wires? Something happened from the time you stopped it that night and the moment you put the exhaust back on. Retrace your steps and look over everything. Test that your getting spark at the wires.

Check for spark on all 4 cylinders. If there are issues, check the ignition components; check plugs for damage or fouling, ohm your wires ( it'll be in thousands of ohms so set your voltmeter right), and ohm your coilpack. If all are ok, move on. If it's a spark issue, there is no need to replace the injectors or the fuel pump. A hayne's manual will give you all the correct ohm specifications that you need.

As for the plug. That is the speed sensor which plugs down and has a small gear on the end of it which mates to a plastic ring gear on the differential. Chances are you have a 95-96 transmission which utilizes the same sensor with a different connector. Just like if you buy a coilpack, 95-96 model will have a different connector than 97-99. What you could do is pull the sensor out of your old transmission and swap it with the one on the new transmission. Be careful though, I've had to split the transmission cause the one dimwat at my shop pulled the sensor out and caught the little gear which popped off and fell in.

Thanks for the reply. I had my dad check the spark while i was at work but he was probly drinking at the time. I will check that and deffinetly let yall know what i come up with and if im getting spark where else should i check.
