What are some possibilities?
I tried kick starting it, and it does not want to fire.
battery is good.
clutch seems to be good / 11k on the clutch.
haven't tried putting gas in it yet.. but it was driven up until it died.
let me know what it could be.

the starter kicks out once and thuds.. doesn't whir at all.. tested good.

if the starter isn't cranking the gas wouldn't matter I would try taping lightly on the solenoid to see if it moves do this while trying to start it.. if this doesn't help the solenoid may be totally stuck and id make sure the engine moves and the connections are good if they all are my best guess would be the starter.. or you can put a millimeter on it and make sure u have power if you do then its most likely the starter itself. good luck

i've tried a new starter, and tried a decent battery.

it makes almost no noise. the starter clunked once and that's about all.. and that was before i changed it.[DOUBLEPOST=1409982010][/DOUBLEPOST]does not crank at all

You either have a bad battery cable, a loose connection, a low battery, or a locked up engine. If it just made a noise than didn't do anything else it sounds like a loose connection somewhere.

engine is not locked up. i can turn it by hand pretty easily.
it's probably electronic. i'll change batteries and check the connections. thanks.

A bad relay could course similar problems being it clunks once theirs also fuses that can be related in this issue just start in one spot and go down the list.. Connections right both ground and positive on both starter and battery and chassis check the wires aren't being shorted out due to a worn cable would most likely be a ground running on a surface somewhere check it well the while way that happened to my girlfriends car pledged he form song habit found it by chance have to see sometime it was under the battery behind the target was shorting out against the block. Also run a batterie test if the battery tester is a good one I can possibly barrow or rent some will tell you I theirs power being drown or bad connections somewhere
