after plenty of good starts i get in my car one day and it doesn't start. everything clicks on when the key is turned but nothing happens to the starter. the batter is good and the starter tested good at advance. I also probed the sullenoid wire and get no voltage there. the ignition fuse under the hood is good.

is there another ignition fuse under the dash, or is my ignition switch bad. i hope it's not because a new ignition switch is 115 bucks.

my solution, if i can't find the problem, is to hook up a push button start. a wire with fuse coming off the batter to the switch and then a wire from the switch going to the sullenoid on the starter.

thanks in advance

Just curious .Did you pull the battery and accidentally put the starter positive wire on the negative teminal? Cause that wire is black with only a red stripe and i had put mine on the negative terminal since all i saw was black the one thats black with a yellow stripe is the ground to the tranny bolt.Thats what my problem was anyway.Hope this helps a little.

from the time the car would start, to when it went bad, i did nothing under the hood. this is why it is so weird for me. it just all of a sudden went out.

i was going to hook up the push button start to day, but now i have to buy another nut for the power wire because i dropped it through the engine and can't find it

i'll let you all know how it works.

I have the same problem with my car. Will that push button start work?? if it does then that will be fix quick for me.

good news, i installed the push button start and it works perfectly.

i used the old sullenoid connector for the wire from the sullenoid to the switch, then ran another wire from the battery with an in-line fuse (recommended) to the other switch terminal. any time the button is pushed the motor will crank. even with no key. the only time it will turn over is when the key is in the "on" position. so all i have to do is turn the key to "on" then just push the button and hold until the motor turns and i'm running.

I still have no idea why the sullenoid wire suddenly went out, but the push button start is a fix. I have the button hid in my arm rest so nobody would be able to steal the car even with the keys :p

i looked around the forums and i found out that the button under the clutch can start your car. so i did that this mornin and it started right up. :)

what do you mean that it can just start your car. do you mean that you can hook it up to start your car? that kind of seems a little vague to me i may be stupid but i don't really know what you're talking about.

i've also got an automatic so i don't have the luxury of push starting if the starter goes out or doing anything with that little switch. I'll never turn back to standard though, now that i have an ipt racing auto tranny.
