Well today I removed my old 7 bolt that had a hole in the side of the bock. I have to say it was a job. The new rebuilt block is waiting for me in the garage. When I pulled off the drive shafts the tore at the boots I'm assuming I need need new shafts because I have no idea how to replace just the boot.

There is a special tool made for putting just the boot on, maybe a local shop has one and you could get them to put it on. By the way how did you get a hole in the block.

Well, it's quite very simple. First.. clean the cv joint to remove all the grease and then remove the snap ring at the end of the shaft. after that, you will be able to pull out the cv joint from the splines. Put the new boot on, then the cv joint and the snap ring.... refill with plenty of grease. replace the cv joint inner end, clamp the boot on and you're done.

I am asuming the hole came from the oil pump... it locked up. Thanks anteversion for the instructions on replacing the boots... I can cancel the order from the local parts store.. $70.00 bucks each compared to 10.00 for just the boot... no brainer.

Well here is the pieces of the "rod" and part of the piston... all I can say is WOW. Most of the pieces were siting on the bottom of my oil pan.
