Stalling when motor is cold

On my 92' gsx i have been having a problem w/ it stalling when i first start it up in the morning. I have to hold the rpms to about 1.5k to 2k rpms to keep it running. But after i do this for about a minute to two minutes the car idles perfect. The strange thing is it has been doing this when i use the ac or heater (the rpms will drop really low and die) but now it does this when the car is cold. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the links but im not so sure its idle surge, my rpms dont jump up they just die. But that link does give me some stuff to try out, thank you

Possibly bad engine coolant temp sensor? Not the one for the temp gauge but the one for the ECM.
