I've searched around literally for months, to answer this issue. (I was redoing my brakes so I had time to kill)

Anyways I have a 95 GSX, and it was stalling occasionally when i shifted to neutral. This problem has gotten worse. After the car has been running for awhile it will stall any i push the clutch pedal. It'll turn back on a few time but keep stalling. Now it will turn on but stall almost immediately. I have wait a few hours before I can turn it on and stay on.

Heres my log (ignore the first stall, I actually stalled, havent driven stick since oct LOL)

log.2013.01.14-03.elg

And heres what I've checked so far
  • No CELs
  • Checked ISC, 37-39 ohm across all coils

I'm not going to try and guess what it is just yet, but check your transmission fluid for metal pieces, and post again what it looked like. Also change your oil and check for the same.

Looks like i need an oil change

sometimes this happens when the clutch wires are badly stretched the pedal will go all the way down but wont fully disengage it causing you to stall. does it happen only when you press in the clutch? if it struggles in neutral i would do a compression test and check your ignition as well.

Do you guys think an overheating Crankshaft Postion Sensors could at fault? CEL for the showed up in october before i took the battery out, it makes sense that it runs fine for awhile until it the sensors heats up.

I'll check that stuff too though

I agree with brobo, same symptoms happened to me. It would stall when I went to shift into neutral and it would stall completely out everytime. Same thing at idle, drop down below 500 rpms and then just die out. Turns out I had record play in the crank, wouldn't hurt to check and best case is you rule out that it's crankwalk right away.

Hopefully i can dropp the oil pan when i check the oil and check crank shaft play but crankwalk would happen as soon as the car start i assume it wouldnt take awhile to kick in, no?

I swear this car is from Satan, i couldnt get it to stall today. ill try again tmrw. i got it to operating temp and keep engaging and disengaging clutch. nada. also good to note i didnt move the car all during idle.

Got it to stall, when i was changing the oil i pushed on the crankshaft pulley to check for play. zero. i kno the best way to check is dropping th eoil pan but i dont have time.

today turned it on, let it warm up for 15 mins and then drove it. stalled shifting between 2nd and 3rd. wouldnt turn back on

waited 2 hours drove it to the near shop and it drove fine. i deff think its crankshaft position sensors. ill keep this thread updated when i get the car back

The same thing was happening to me about three years ago and it was my cam shaft position sensor. It drove me crazy for almost a whole year. I asked around to see if somebody knew what was wrong, took it to SEVERAL shops and nobody could ever figure it out and the car never threw a code either. And I found out what it was because I unplugged the sensor and VOILA!!!, the car worked perfect. So i got a new sensor and the car has ran good for the past three years.

Paid $311 ro replace that stupid sensor. Shop really raped me. My last theory.

Being that you posted this on the noob section - did you put an aftermarket lightened flywheel? Many noob's who install lightened flywheels make the mistake of not understanding that the rotating mass changes when doing this mod. This meaning that you can't let the revs go down when shifting gears as it will cause the revs to go very low or even have the motor die out. The whole point of the heavier oem flywheel is to keep the transition from one gear to the next as smooth as possible. In other words, you can take your time when shifting gears or can put the car on neutral without having to worry about the revs dropping too low or the motor dying out.

I know I have aftermarket lightened flywheel, but I think thats something I would have noticed in the summer? Does the cold give me less time to shift or do I need keep the revs up more.

Also I learned stick when I first bought the car in May 2012, Car has been down since July 2012...so my stick driving could have been affected in the last 6 months
