just wondering.... i have a 420a eclipse i was wondering if anybody knew about swapping an srt4 engine into the 420a eclipse.... i have the tools and technology to do all the custom work i would just like to know how everything would line up and everything..... this is a possibility for me.... i know that theres talk about this swap but i really couldnt find anyting on it on this site i also couldnt find anything on the tech

i could understand ... the SRT4 is a beast of a motor... its can easily hit over 300 bhp with just Basic peformance upgrades... but i doubt it can be swapped into a DSM...

There is a guy on this forum that has an srt4 setup swapped into his 2g, but the hood doesn't fit.
I also know a local guy that swapped the srt4 bottom end and i believe used the 420a head and intake with some modification on his girlfriends 2g as well.

Think you have enough room behind your engine for all that turbo stuff? An SRT4's pretty cramped back there. Not sure what the firewall differences are for engine clearance, maby get on an SRT forum and have someone measure for you?

Yea, the "Skittle" motor, being the overstroked version of the 420A has their plumbing backwards - INT in the front and the EXH in the back with the turbo-which is a throwaway turbo built by Mitsu since it's incorporated with the EXH manifold. You couldn't add a b16G if you tried for this odd turbo spins the other way-counterclockwise the way the EXH piping is laid out.

Plus, the 2.4, being massively undersquare, runs out of gas at 6100RPMS, but it's got plenty of bottom end torque for massive launching.

A well-tuned 4G63 can destroy that motor in a heartbeat.

I like to see someone drop in EVO's 4B11T instead...

use the shortblock, and a 2g 420a head and fabricate the rest of the turbo kit yourself.
