Hey, i think the subject line says it all but I have a 420a in my current car, all bone stock with 197,545 miles on it. Just barely has a whisp of smoke and thats only after about 20 minutes of driving. I want to do something no one really does and i couldnt think of any more insane idea than doing an Eclipse SRT4. Im a huge mopar fan and would love for this to be a possibility. I know the turbo and exhaust exits on the back side of the engine closer to the firewall on the SRT4. And im sure i would have to have a custom exhaust built (which isnt a problem since i work in a machine shop on the weekends) but what would i have to get in order to do this right besides the engine and tranny... ecu? wiring harness? ive only had my eclipse since November 11, 03 and i am determined to make this car insane. If it can be done, im gonna keep it stock besides CAI and a custom catback dual exhaust, but this is gonna be a show car so i can deal with the power loss from a dual exhaust. Let me know asap.

Ok stop replying to this thread and go do a search on swapping an srt4 engine into a 1st gen neon. All of you guys saying it can be done, aren't taking into consideration the cost of this swap. If this guy had money he wouldn't come to a forum asking if it could be done. He would go to somebody who specializes in this kind of thing and ask them to do it. There is nothing simple about this swap. He would have to strip the car down to absolutely nothing. Ok the neon guys have to take the whole suspension, crossmember, dash, wiring harness from the steering wheel forward, switch to hydraulic clutch (it doesn't just bolt on either), engine mounts, splice the engine harness into the main vehicle harness (which runs behind the dash), etc etc etc. You can plan on doing at least the same, then try getting the srt4 axles to mate with your hubs, or the srt4 engine mounts to magically bolt on to your car, getting the chipped key to work with your ignition, making a custom crossmember, etc, etc. Ls1 swap in a 66 truck is easier than hell, ok there are about 5 companies that make a swap harness or an independent harness. The mounts can be bought almost anywhere. I've done this stuff before, it is extremely time consuming, and your looking at like 120-160 hours+ of labor. Do you know what 120-160 hours of labor at a good shop would cost you? A minimum of 8k, but probably more like 10k. You are talking about something that has never been done, and for good reason to. The cost wold be astronomical. So you want people to look at your car and go wow? Pm me and we'll discuss swapping a hemi in there.

ok guys, i ve read ALL the posts and about 90% of you have no idea. SRT4 can be done, my buddy is a DSM Tuner. He is gonna do the install for me, he just wanted me to get a list of stuff that needs to be swapped out, i have a wrecked 04 SRT4 Neon sitting in my driveway on blocks. The thing got CREAMED from behind by a semi at a stoplight. i got the car complete from the slavage yard for $900. the reason i do not get an SRT4 Neon is cause the body is ugly as sin. Eclipse has smoother lines and a big wide rear end. THe reason i do not want the 4G63T is because, i dont want one. Dont like how they look, the SRT4 is a better looking engine for show and can be dressed up nicely, I have $30k in the bank, its not an issue

I think you are going to be sorely dissapointed when this is all done. I highly doubt your dsmtuner buddy has the knowledge or the skills to do this swap if he has to ask what has to be swapped out. Everthing has to swapped out. Ask him how he is going to get the srt4 ecu and electronics to work with your eclipse electronics, and how is he going to get the engine to start without the coded key, that the ecu requires to start the engine. If he claims he is able to perform this swap he wouldn't need to ask questions about what needs to be swapped. It is possible and there are lots of people that could do it but, if you are going to spend that much cash you should leave it to a professional. Now on another note, if you want totally custom and you want people to stop and actually look at your car, and you love mopar so much. Swap a hemi in there, it could be done for 30k or less.

you can do srt4 in ya eclipse with how half this stuff just with a another 2.4 block i know ### i own all three
1gen rt srt4 boosted, 95 4door 2.4 swapped boosted , 93 eagle talon tsi 20g turbo and 97 mit eclipse rs and for one its not hard if you know the mech and wiring you should be good to go.

I have to agree with just about everybody here. If you're doing this just for the jo of it/love of the car, then go through all the time, effort and money. If not don't bother

I'm in the process of doing this swap. The srt pcm can be reflashed to delete the pass key. The lower support is not needed because the set has its own unique mounts, which leave the underside of the engine bay open.
