srt4 crank

Im going to say it wont work in the 2.0 block. If you were to get a 2.4 block from a cloud car, it would work fine. I did some reading on a SRT form and found this

2.4 has a different crank trigger system altogether and a taller block. So from reading that, i dont think it will. I could be wrong.

well, if the 2.4 crank works then the srt crank should work, since it drops in the 2.4

If that's the case then I guess it boils down to whichever one was made stronger. If they are of equal strength, the obvious choice would be going with the cloud car crank because they are pretty common (and cheap) when compared to their SRT counter-part.

No, you cannot use an srt crank in a 2.0 block.

NGC cranks (03+) have to be used with NGC blocks.

Your talking about apples and mangos here.

The 420a in the eclipse/talon is a distanat cousin to the dodge 420a. First of all, the 420a in similar year neons bolts a different trans. That trans is not mountable in 2g N/A dsms.

Second of all the 420a in N/A DSMs has a lotus head.

Third of all the head on SRT-4s is a mopar head. And it has the exhaust manifold on the back, intake mani on the front.

You would have as much success putting a 2.4L SRT-4 bottom end in one of our cars as putting a Mivec Head on a 4g63 in one of our cars. Your best bet would be to find one of the older 2.4l blocks. I think they came in caravans.

1995-1999 Neon transmissions can bolt directly to a 2GNT's 420A... they use a cable style clutch, but they work just fine. Most people swap the bell housings to keep the hydraulic clutch, that's all.

You can put the 420a head on an older 2.4 block without any problems. You can't use the 2.4 crank in any 2.0 block.

What is going on Nate? New motor not holding up? Or just thinking of something new to do?

I'm completely retarded.:ohdamn: I knew all of this.:ohdamn: 2.4 block with 2.0 head is the only way to go bigger than 2.2 stroker. :ohdamn:

I'm losing it guys...completely losing it. WTF ......Although, some would argue I've never had "it" in the first place.......

even if you could drop it in your crank tone wheel is different. the srt would be ngc were as the 420a is sbec. not sure if the wheels are removable

I am a little late to the game but here goes:

As mentioned no 2.4 crank will fit in a 2.0 block. Journal sizes, stroke, etc are all different.

SRT4 crank will not fit in the 1st gen 2.4 N/A blocks as the crank triggers are on opposite sides of the crank. 1st gen 2.4 cranks had the trigger machined into the counterweight. SRT4s have a trigger wheel near the rear main. Obviously the pickup locations are cast accordingly so placing an SRT4 crank in the 1st gen 2.4 block is useless you have a creative way to machine and modify the block to accept the new crankshaft position sensor.
