Squeaking sound from engine bay decelerating

I originally thought it was a suspension/axle/steering sound, but I realized today while fiddling with the throttle that it's coming from the bay. When I let off the throttle, it sounds like a squeaking door hinge slowly opening for like 2 seconds. Of course, as I try to pinpoint the sound it doesn't happen. I did a BLT a few weeks ago and couldn't hear it then. Any suggestions?

Do another blt. What bov do you have? Could be a small pin leak like throttle shaft seal or biss oring.

Hmmm. I have a 1g bov. I'll do another BLT tomorrow. Didn't even think off the o ring. I could only reproduce the sound twice, and it was impossible to pinpoint. Sounded like it was right in the middle of the engine bay. It seems to happen mostly when I'm driving slow and let off the gas, like pulling into my driveway or parking lot. Just an annoying squeak/ squeal. Usually same pitch. I actually thought it was my brake pads sticking in the humidity at one point.

A properly working BOV can make that noise sometimes. My 1G BOV makes a sound similar to that under part throttle. Try cruising around under light load part throttle and slowly lift off of the gas. That's when I experience it.

OK, but would I hear it during a BLT? I guess the easiest way would be to swap it with my evo bov and see if I still hear it.

I agree with the guys above. Its your 1g bov, i also had the same effect with mine.

Well BLT still showed no leaks, so I switched bovs with my evo x bov and now the sound is gone. I never even thought to search for that answer. Now the 1g bov is on my Tsi awd, but I'm a little pissed I didn't know about that annoying sound ahead of time or I never would've got it. It will drive me nuts. I have the opportunity to buy some hard pipes with an old hks bov. Guy is asking $175, but I'll have to buy a recirc adapter. I'm going to try to get it for $100. Is that even worth it? I'm running stock boost. Or should I just hold out to try to find another evo bov? I got mine for $40 but they're hard to come by.

Or, is there any way I can oil that 1g to stop the noise?

Is your 1g crushed? If not cruising alittle will help take noise away

No I purposely got an uncrushed bov since I'm at stock boost. I read on an old post that blinker oil works .
