I have a 1997 2G Spyder. It has the 4g64 7 bolt motor and i was wondering if it will be hard to put a 4g63 7 bolt motor in it. As in will i have to do any fabricating to the bay?

First off, why do you want to put an even slower, less torquey motor in favor of the one you have ? that's just a big downgrade in itself. Why do you want to do this ? What is the purpose ?

According to your car info, you have a 97 N/T, which is a 420A, NOT a 4g64. From the driver's seat looking forward, which side is the air intake on? If it's on the left = 420A, if it's on the right = you could have a 4g64 if it's been modified. If it's stock GS-T... forget it. 4g63t

It's an N/A spyder, so it has a 4g64.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...5684-how-convert-4g64-spyder-6-bolt-4g63.html has a nice write up on it. Just sub in the 7bolt parts instead of the 6bolt parts. I'm curious though, why not drop a 6bolt in if you are going through the trouble of putting a 7bolt in?

Yes please do not give misinformation, N/T spyders came with a 4g64 NOT a 420a

If you have a 4g64, the 4g63 mounts in exactly the same. I went with the 7 bolt swap, very easy to do up and running in a days time.

Just keep 4g64 bothem end and get turbo head and turbo kit.

Until you want more that the stock block cant give you, then you wont be happy. If you dont want more right now, trust me...you will. You can do that though and but I'd build the 2.4 block up first, throw the DOHC on and have yourself a great torquey turbo motor.

I'm already not happy with the T-25, but I knew that a while ago. I have way more power than traction at this point and I've done almost no tuning with this ridiculously powerful tuning tool. Speed is a sickness, I'm just starting to sniffle (snivel?).

hahah yep it is, but your setup is by far better than the stock 4g64 n/t setup. Thing is it might have been easier to do it all at once and make upgrading a heck of a lot easier. Thats just my .02 its all how much money you have along with what your goals are(remember though goals change ).

No, i do have the 4g64. Its the 4g64 SOHC.

I have also heard that putting the DOHC isn't the best of ideas. My friends have told me to just spend a little bit more money and just buy a block, piston set, and crank. So what i have done is bought a 4g63 7 bolt block, micro-polished crank, and a turbo head. The whole purpose of this post subject is to find out if everything will line up or not. And from what i am getting everything will line up?

As stated before, yes it will line up, the mounts are the same.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be a good idea to switch to DOHC. The SOHC setup is good at developing torque at low speeds, but you can actually FEEL the disadvantage as you go higher in the RPM range. As far as I know, the SOHC manifold was not designed with forced induction in mind.

If you're wanting to keep the low-speed torque advantage, go with a 2G DOHC head instead of the 1G head. You will keep some of the higher airflow speeds associated with smaller runners and ports, as well as gain the airflow advantages lacking in the SOHC head.

I see you didn't mention anything about buying pistons, which you will have to do if they don't come with the 2.0L block. The rods are supposedly the same betweeen your car and the 2.0L engine.

Your friends, while probably wise and well meaning, really can't tell you what's right if they've never ridden in a 2.4L Turbo. Read around some more, because the answers to your initial questions are nested in with the same information that will convince you to turbo the great engine you already have.
