Ok tryin to figure out what auto tranny i have , cars a 97 eclipse convertable 2.4 its a 4 speed. I figure im gonna try an replace the. shift solenoids cause that seems to be what sounds like my problem with the crazy shifting an slipping. An beats rebuildung the tranny for 1600 . Alsi need to know were to find the parts for the shift solenoids ive search an cant find a parts dealer short of calling mitsubishi . Maybe even a step by step replacement guide

Usually if it is slipping than it is a problem with a clutch pack. What color is the fluid and does it smell burnt at all?
 
Would the clutches cause irratic shifts as well. The fluid smells but then again for somereason tranny fluid always smells to me. Were could i get the clutch packs, how hard are these jobs to do on ## own ? Id just do them both
