Spyder Owners, Need Weathestrip Help

I bought a 98 spyder around 2 months ago. I'm just curious on how much weather stripping there's suppose to be on the convertible top frame. Mine looks like more has been added onto the factory strip. Its all nasty and falling apart so if its not part of the factory strip I want to remove it. If any spyder owners can tell me if this is normal or someone added extra strip to mine id really appreciate it

Looks like the top was or is damaged. I replaced my top my self and there are cables in that section that pull out the top over the edge of the rail.

That center bow likes to break or unscrew from the frame, it gets all messed up from there.

I plan to replace my freinds soon when we get his car running again. He bought the upgraded bracket and dual cable kit to replace the inferior oem one.

Actually I was talking about the cable that holds down the Stayfast cloth top in place. You know the ones that have to run inside the canvas itself.

But yes that could be a future problem to fix the 2nd bow later on. By the pictures im not sure the "Top Link Control" is not the problem here.

I still say the cables might have snapped. Making your top look like that way. Theres only 2, 1 on each side with a spring retractor. It is possible ive seen before. Theyre only held by a metal clip. Only way to find out is try pull off the tops head liner. The weather strips are easy to remove by hand but I wouldnt wanna do it til I start removing the canvas to see what happened. Worse case thats just what you might have to do. The cables im talking are not accessible with the stayfast canvas installed.

When those brackets get messed up it causes the bow to get messed up then screws the top all up. My friends is all mangled and we will be replacing it all at once for future insurance.

Replace these side cables too

And we will be having the motor rebuilt since its not working either.

Having a convertible is just a whole other world of problems to me, a sunroof is good enough.

Having a convertible is just a whole other world of problems to me, a sunroof is good enough.

Not sure about the center beam like I said above though that's what happened with that but im concerned about the weatherstrip which looks like theres an excessive amount causing the top to like rollover on top of it. I can also shove my finger between the weatherstrip making me think the previous owner added some weatherstrip because of leaking or something
In these pictures here my finger is in between what I think is the factory weather strip and the "added" weather strip. The one closer to the top is the one that im wondering if its suppose to be there because if not I want to take it out cause it torn up and the top doesn't fit over it.[DOUBLEPOST=1414641033][/DOUBLEPOST]My comment didn't show but a couple of weeks I got it I put the top up without the handbrake and heard a loud popping but all I noticed was that the headliner popped lose in the back corner and that the 2nd "floating beam" doesn't go in the right place when I put the top down. I have to shove it behind the seat to get the top all the way down but the edges of my top looked like this before this happened.
