My car, has been driving great, stronger than ever. Yesterday i went to a station to pick up some gas and i filled it 1/4 of a tank. While driving, i noticed that my car began making a constant noise, i think its the fuel pump (walbro 190). But now, whenever i hit boost or floor it, my car sputters and hesistates, like is being held back. Im a cheap guy, so i've never filled the car to 1/4 of a tank. i diassambled the pump assambly and i didn't find anything wrong. This is very weird, any ideas? thanks. :thumb:

Did you put the right fuel in??? Premium? If you put a lower grade fuel in it will do just that and it may take a couple af fill ups to clear itself up.

Heh, i knew this answer was coming. Its not a matter of fuel here, i know that. As a matter of fact, ive been using lower grade fuel, and the car has been driving strong, 91 octanes, the one i just filled it up with today was 95. Not a matter of fuel tho.

9 times out of 10 you let the fuel go down really low, so all the particles from the bottom of the tank get sucked up into the pump. Your car is a 90, so 17 years of age with the stock tank is sure to have this happen. try putting in some lucas injector cleaner, it will also clean up your fuel pump. ive had this happen with several cars, not just dsms. if that doesnt help, you might have to try to blow the lines clean.

I had a similar question on a thread I made

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268316

Perhaps I should try some injector cleaner... Or what about just plain ol rubbing alcohol, ive heard that works to clean out your injectors/pump also? My injectors are 850ccs and are only 5months old but my concern is cleaning the fuel lines and the fuel pump which is like 3 yrs old and im pretty sure I have all kinds of rust and corrosion at the bottom of the tank... Also I dont want to get knock with injector cleaner in the tank while doing a pull, I dont know how that effects the octane properties of the fuel while its in there?...

It could be that 1) the tank at the gas station you filled up at was getting low OR 2) the tank at the gas station was just refilled. Either of the two would stir up debris and other unwanted things from the bottom of the tank into the pumps. If this occurred, it is highly possible that your fuel filter has been clogged, allowing minimal amounts of fuel to get through. As any Einstein would know, no fuel=no go, meaning it could definitely be a suspect. You might keep that in mind.

Ok.. ill try the fuel cleaner thing. BTW when an injector die, you can hear missfires, or it operates either on 3 o 2 cylinders, depending which injectors went dead. If they were all dead the car would not start. So its not a matter of injectors.
