Gas leak when filling up?

As of lately, I have been smelling fuel when start up on my car. The smell goes away after a few mintues though. So today I filled up with gas and noticed that behind the passenger side tire, gas is leaking down.
Is this a common problem? Are there gaskets on the tube that connects to the tank?

I have the same problem that I'm going to fix this weekend. I hae a rip in the hose going from the where you put gas, to the gas tank.

Its not normal. There is sometimes an overflow in the filler neck, but I think you have a hole farther down in your filler neck.

Is the filler neck a rubber hose or is it a hard line?

well im a gas pumper , but yeah a leak like that is usually a hoe in the neck or possibly a hole in the tank, but towards the top and when you fill up and it reaches that point it comes out.

I think the filler nech is a hard line that what it usually is.

The filler neck is a rubber hose. it clamps to a metal hline towards the top. Then clamps on the tank.
