When driving around i get a really noticable sputter when engine braking. Like shifting from 3rd to 2nd when coming up to a stop ill let the pedal out in 2nd and just hummmmmm to a stop...but lately...ive been getting a sputter??? sputsptugh...like popping out the tail but not super loud. Is it exhaust leak? maybe or what? my plugs and wires are nice and new and really good. So any help would eb appreciated!!!!

If everything you checked in the ignition system is within spec (plug gap/coil resistance/continuity) then I would go about pressure testing the injectors to make sure they aren't leaking. Check for CEL and test all your sensors associated with fuel. If your VSS sensor doesn't work, then backfiring while decelerating is highly possible. If you have your EGR valve hooked up this is also something to check (may be on its way) along with its gaskets. Is there any problem accelerating?

There are a million things that could be the problem, the ecu is picky!!

yeah dude my accelerating is startin g do act doggish ever since ive been getting a that decel sputter. Like before that i used to be getting around fast and now its noticably slower. but smooth accelig no backfires. only when decelerating....No CEL so its not like 02 sensors is it??? how do i pressure check the injectrs?? i have a voltmeter how do i test resistance on the ignt coil? whats continuity? What is VSS sensor?? and lastly my EGR is still there where is it located and how do i check that if its clogged? Thanks man my car sucks lately.. cant find time to pinpoint.

It's possible it could be the O2 sensor if you haven't changed it 40000+ miles since you also said acceleration is starting to get doggish. To pressure test the injectors you need to pull the fuel rail with the injectors attached and activate the fuel pump to check leaks. Other things to inspect would be the fuel filter along with cleaning the injectors and testing fuel rails pressure. Vss is the speed sensor, if this doesn't work it could do all kinds of crazy things. (Deceleration A/F mixture and cruising/stopping Idle) As for the EGR valve you can take it off and clean it + inspect the gaskets if necessary; there's other ways to test it with a vac pump, but for basics the coil should be around ~35 ohms. Exhaust leaks/Map sensor could also be a culprit.
