1G Spun main bearing.

So I spun a main bearing took the crank to the machinist and was told that it was .016 over and the limit is .020 So it's not worth it to try and turn it. Just wondering if the block might be shot to.

Anyone ever have a main bearing spin and have to replace the block and the crank. I have heard that a lot of times the block will be fine.

Any advise would be great advise at this point.
 
you have to measure the clearances to know for sure. I have never had a main bearing spin but i have had rod bearings spin and have the rod still be usable. Depends on how much it was worn. Usually the bearing will wear faster than the block. If you do reuse the block be sure to clean it very thoroughly. I am sure it is full of metal shavings.
 
Take the block with the main caps and bolts to a decent machine shop and have them check the line bore.

On the main bore that spun the bearing, if it is grooved up, or has black crusty oil on the main webing, the block will need line bored or replaced.
 
Thanks Guys I will take the block in and have them check it out and see what I can come up with I bought the car like fool and drove it maybe 100 miles total and the this has happen. was told it was rebuilt but from what I can see it was more just slapped together.
