Good morning tuners. I'm in the process of rebuilding my bottom end, and someone offered me these for a steal. I know one rod bearing has spun, and i attached the pictures to compare the rods. This setup supposedly has 3,000 miles on it. Should i skip out on this or replace the rod then get the set cleaned up at the machine shop. For the wear it looks like about 9k miles.

The first two rods are toast and need replaced. At a glance, the other rods look ok. Buy 2 new rods and send it with the 2 good ones to your machine shop to be inspected/resized if needed.

Though at that point Eagles are pretty cheap, and you could just buy a new set, keeping the other two as spares.

Okay so I should buy them, send the bad rod to eagle for a weight matched replacement, then to machine shop to be sized to the new one.

Sorry I edited my post. Depending on the price youre getting the rods at, you could. Personally id just start with new rods, especially since eagles arent crazy expensive.

Okay forgot to mention first two pics are of the same ro . Could I just purchase this set for the pistons? Only wants $250 for all of it

I wouldn't give 250 for just the pistons. They are used. They are also the old style that probably has cracks in the skirts, as well as thin ass wrist pins that are bent.

If the pins are round, and the skirts are not cracked, I think $250 is a fair price for the whole combo.

He wants rods and pains for 250

What bastard is saying, is to buy the set for 250 and only use the pistons isnt worth it. Just buy new stuff, youll only be a couple hundred more than buying the used stuff and swapping rods.
