^ ahaha thats good.

Is it possible to change rod and main bearings on a gst without pulling the motor? Like just drop the oil pan? Isn't the crank toast too?

Sadly, yes, I would know all about spun bearings. I have my car running with about 100 miles on it now :rocks:

No, you can't get to the main's without removing the crank (i.e., removing transmission). I would recommend pulling everything in one shot and then tearing down the short block for a look. Either way, you're going to need machining work. With a knock that loud, I suspect the crank to be no good (unless you want to cut it).

yes it's possible. ranger87 just did that with his rods and his mains about a week ago.

Link it LOL

I have heard of that being done some several occations but, that sounds bad so im thinking the crank is toast, my car would stay on even at idle when that happened.

It idles fine with the knock. In the video I had spark plug wires pulled to see if it was just one cylinder that was spun or not. But still the crank is toast.

ahh I knew it couldn't be done because of the trans. Doesn't the shaft come off the crank like into the bell housing? The cars a gst and I think the fact that its open o2 housing makes the sound a little worse. Its cool I bought the car for next to nothing. 2gb gst for hella cheap.

how could you tell if the crank was toast cause i bought a parts car that supposedly spun a bearing, but looked at the crank and i didn't feel any scores in it, and i was thinking of rebuilding it just as a spare motor. Also who can you tell when a bearing might be going out, like what might your motors symptoms be, or dose it just happen?

You have to look at the hole entire crank. If there is no scratch marks on it then it should be fine. Still take it to a machine shop to make sure its withing specs. You cant tell if a bearing is going out by hearing it. You might here a knock but it could be lifters as well. Once you hear the bearing chances are its to late. I check my oil and cut open the filter and see if there is anything in there is the best way. If you cut open you filter and see small metal shavings you might catch before hand.
