I have a 19c frankenstein junior turbo on my 97 GSX. Now At the moment and I have been messing with this issue lately where if the clutch is disengaged the turbo won't spool / build boost when the clutch is engaged the turbo spools perfectly fine it does have some lag however . Want to get it to spool to help launching . The in car boost gauge no matter what will not go above the 0/0 mark when given gas with clutch in .

Not sure what to do any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

im unfamilair with that particular turbo, but regardless- if the clutch is completely disengaged there is no load on the motor= little no turbo spool to a less dense exhaust charge

thats why guys shell out for launch control systems, systems capable of launch control or flash it onto their ecu.

it functions similarly to antilag in that the exhaust charge is richened up with a lowered peak RPM cutoff in a standstill to spool/build boost at a stop, and to avoid launching too high of an rpm to break drivetrain parts or spin uselessly.

In your case is sounds as if your trying to pull this of on the stock ecu....

even when My talon was rocking its T25 back in the day, I couldn't build boost at a stop without revving the piss out of it and even then it only work part time- and was a bad idea to even consider.

Lol I was confused at the first half of what you were trying to do. Trying to get boost with no load on a bigger turbo is a little difficult unless you:

a. Rev the piss out of it
b. Use 2-step
c. Use anti-lag

Do you have ECMLink? I know it has at least one of the two features, if not then both.

No have not purchased ecmLink yet but its going to be done soon . So with ecmlink you could clear up this issue with its 2 step feature ? Also I wasn't aware that you couldn't spool up before launch without this on a stock ecu . Will definately be looking to purchase ecmlink soon as tax season comes :)
Well that answered my question Thank you for the help

Whered did you find the frank 19c turbo? It should spool much like a 14b/16g hybred.

Put a load on the engine, so drive while in gear..Check for boost leaks, pre turbo exhaust leaks..Then post back.

Wait. Are you in Jacksonville or Illinois? Im confused. I happen to have a ECMlink w/ecu that I happen to be selling (look at my classified ad). If you want to come and test it out/buy it then you are more than welcome, just know that I will be gone (driving o Chicago for the holiday) for a week come Friday.

PM me your number either way.

I'm not sure where the person who had the car Before me got the turbo I personally would have went with a EVO III Turbo but I've had the car for 5 months and that's the turbo he gave me for the parts list he printed out he had had installed .

Yeah live in jacksonville Illinois can't afford that kind of investment for ecmlink atleast until march or so if you still have it then I'd be glad to get ahold of you and see if we can't come to a price for it .

Frank Jr's are in between a Big 16G and 18G in terms of wheel specs. It's going to be much laggier than a T25 or 14B due to the increased rotating mass. There's little chance you'll build any boost at all when free-revving the engine in neutral.

No engine load = no exhaust energy, so no boost can be built.

But with a hard intake, and full exhaust, the turbo sure is loud even with no load on the engine(14b).

Cant wait to see what the 19 is like on my car..Op keep in touch with me..I would love to see a log on your 2g with the 19c.:thumb:
