Turbo Spooling Help

after installing a pacesetter header and a custome stainless steel 3" 02 housing with a 3½ inch exhaust with no cat or muffler (right now) it takes alot longer to boost. It is now boosting at 5000 rpm instead of the usual 3300 rpms. Is it the distance between the header and the turbo or is it do to lack of backpressure to the turbo from the exhaust? open to suggestions.

if it needs a muffler i was thinking about getting a supertrapp.

I dont think lack of catback, or muffler would be the ones causing the problem, I would say maybe a boost leak.

double check your seal between the exhaust manifold and the head.

My car should run fine with the new exhaust correct? It's not going to be to much volume to move?

Did you make sure you don't have a huge exhaust leak before the turbo, Or at the o2 housing/turbine housing? You didn't use those junk paper pacesetter gaskets, Did you? When I installed that pacesetter tubular manifold(2 of them before i gave up after they cracked after 1 month) i had an exhaust leak and the spool up was like you described.

Backpressure isnt a good thing on a turbo'd car.

People run with no exhaust at the track. No chance anything BEHIND the turbo is causing your problem.

Found the pacesetter gasket blew out in the rear facing the head, had overlooked that. Fixed using a Factory Gasket at a $ 4.00 cost. Since the new exhaust fond EGT stay below 1000 degrease when getting on it and at 350-400 degrese at idle.
