I have a 92 lazer rs. Was running great. Then a few days ago i noticed it was missing just a little at idle, I get into the pedal alittle and it is an absolute dog until the turbo spools up. It idles rough like the timing is off a tooth so I checked the cams and all my timing marks line up. I put new plugs and wires in it and had no change. The coil pack looks brand new. It will not miss enough for conventional diagnosis. Also am having problems shifting. From a dead stop I can shift into 2nd but not 1st. Same story in reverse. I have to start the car in reverse to use it. I read online about some clutch discs needing a longer slave rod so I installed one but to no avail. I checked the movement of the fork and it doesn't look like its bottoming out or anything. any help would be greatly appriciated.

Start off your troubleshooting with a boost leak test then check the ignition timing with a timing light.

did you verify that all the timing marks lined up and not just the cam gears?

Yes i checked that all the timing marks on the cams, crank and oil pump shaft line up. The only thing in can think of is that the muffler weld broke and i lost it. i had to put one of those really loud round mufflers on it.

And what is a boost leak check? Runs like an animal when the turbo spools up.
