I was driving on the highway to Swing Dance last week and without any noise or any indicator, my speedometer failed and now remains at zero.

I'm assuming that a gear or somesuch that operates the speedometer has broken.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what can cause this, and what I can do to fix it?

The car is a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, the engine is a 91+ 6-bolt turbo, un-modified.

Thanks!

I'd say the cable too, you can check it by looking to the rear of the transmission. You'll see the cable going in. Take the one bolt out (10mm or 12mm cant remember) and try to pull out the sensor, it can be stiff... check the cable end and the gear for damage.
