ok so my speedometer has been acting up. every morning for past 3 days it will work for a good 5 minutes on way out. then it will drop to 0mph. stay there no matter what i am dong. then it will start to jump around as i accelerate. accelerate hard going high rpm jumps to 60mph. then let off gas drops to 20. press in clutch and let off gas drops to 0mph. then after like another 5 minutes of jumping around it will go normal and just be fine. help me please.

Is it making any noise? My old GS did the same thing and it was the speedo cable.

if your odometer is also not working while your speedometer is not working, it's the vehicle speed sensor - could be just a loose wire clipped onto it or the sensor itself could be bad - very easy to replace

There should only be two sensors on your transmission, the speed sensor is the one closest to your firewall, it should have one 8MM bolt holding it in if I remember correctly.

2G's don't have speedo cables I don't believe, so it should either be your sensor, or your cluster.

My 1st 2g did that and it was a wire (yellow or brown if I remember right) going into the plug on the top of the tranny. If your standing at your passenger fender looking down its on the left side of the transmission. Unplug the sensor and use some contact cleaner, they put some gunk stuff in there and if you have any sort of corrosion it can cause that bouncing around thing. Clean the connector really good and take it on/off a couple times to make sure you have both the connector and the part it plugs into clean. Plug it back in and go for a run, if you have the same problems then its either your cluster or the sensor. I would try the sensor first.
Technically if you ever replace your guage cluster it changes the condition on the title. Box A true mileage known, Box C, true miliage unknown because the factor odometer isn't installed. Box C for value purpose is like a salvaged car. Went through all this once.... I guess you could get around this by answering the question "no" when the DMV person asks you "has the mileage of the vehicle been changed or altered in any way, and is the mileage on the vehicle actual?"

Yeah I had to change my cluster when I did an at mt swap. I just happened to find one with pretty close mileage so I didn't say anything.
