I just purchased a 91 talon tsi auto, with the speedometer and odometer not working. i'm waiting for my shop manual to see how to change the speed cable. I'm guessing that is the problem with it. Also i'm having problems when driving up to 30mph (i'm guessing 1 - 2 gears), it shakes like one of those chocolate milk commercials. I've read a few posts here, but haven't got a straight answer for a 1g. I read that the ecu controls the shifting, so if the cable is broken would it make the shift for the tranny messed up, cause it doesn't know how fast it going. Or do i need a tranny rebuild??

Anyone have any ideas for either problem??

It may not be the cable. it could also be the little speedo gear in the tranny where the cable screws onto.

I had that happen before when I had a torque converter swapped out. There is a gear in there that is not connected right which makes the speedometer not work. Also shaking could be loose torque converter bolts. It's happened to me when I changed it out and did not use locktite.
