How do you remove the speed sensor from the tranny? I'm concerned about breaking it since it's plastic. I'm examining the new one and notice a retaining ring. at the base. Does the tranny have to be opened?

There's one 10mm bolt holding it to the transmission. Remove that and the wire going to the speed sensor. After that, it should pull right out. I'm not sure it you can get it out without removing the transmission mount.

I'm going to give it a try. I'll lwt you know how that comes out. Surprisingly I've seen know threads with the detailed info you guys just gave. I hope this thread helps others...

Well I was able to get the sensor out but the plug end is fried pretty good and one of the 3 wires going to it came loose. I guess this explains the lack of a speedometer. I'm still replacing the sensor. But need to find a new plug and rewire it. I dont know how it happend. Kind of strange actually. Because it's right on the plug (might have happened during the swap. Anyway does anyone know how many wires actual run to the sensor?
