How to get to the speed sensors...?

I am trying to swap out my speed sensors to find out if that is what is causing my tranny to be in limp mode. I am having trouble taking out the air box to have access to the sensors. I removed the filter and the upper hose/arm and I removed the 3 bolts on the inside of the box. However, I can't get the whole bottom piece out. I have taken off the bolts for the fuse box and even removed the ecu to try and see if there is a bolt somewhere that I am missing.

How do I get this piece out? Do I even need to get it out? I was thinking that maybe I could remove the wheel and well and access it from there but my tools are limited so I didn't want to have to rig a jack and stand that don't work too well.

Any insight would be great. Thanks.

You dont need the whole box out just the air intake pipe. You can reach right down in between the head and battery and take it out if you know what sensor it is. Its only one little screw on the sensor and it comes right out. And what do you mean limp mode? All the speed sensor does is work the speedometer on the dash I believe.

I was going to change both sensors (in/out) as precaution. My car is stuck in 3rd gear (automatic trans). I had the codes pulled at the dude at autozone said my speed sensors were messed up. I already switched out the TCU with what I believe is a working one, and my speedo works fine.

What are the Codes before you start to pull things?! You can remove the intake box, by simply pulling it towards you away from from the fuse box. It is being held together by a risen lip on the plastic housing.

I have 3 codes. P0750 p0700 and p0134. I already swapped out the TCU and I am having trouble finding a replacement for the aetx relay (the one close to the firewall behind the battery)

If I'm not mistaken one of the codes is shift solenoid A the other is vehicle speed sensor and the third is an o2 sensor. I don't really care about the o2.

Let me break this down, a SHORT is what you possibly have. It seems like a lot of nothing to you , but bare with me. This is causing the transmission to go into limp mode. The CODE P0700 is being caused by P0750.

P0750-L-R SOLENOID CIRCUIT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0750-L-R SOLENOID CIRCUIT
When Monitored: Ignition key is turned from the OFF to RUN position and/or key is
turned from the CRANK to the RUN position, then every 10 secs thereafter, or when a
speed ratio or pressure switch error occurs. All 4 solenoids are tested for continuity
continuously.
Set Condition: If a solenoid is On, power is momentarily interrupted, then reenergized. If
solenoid is Off, power is momentarily energized, then deenergized. If an inductive spike is
not sensed by the TCM, it is retested. If the solenoid fails 4 times the code sets.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
CHECKING SYMPTOMS AND POSSIBLE CAUSES
LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE CAUSING SYMPTOM
TCM PIN 53 TO GND OPEN
TCM PIN 57 TO GND OPEN
TCR OUTPUT (SWITCHED B+) OPEN
L-R SOLENOID CONTROL CKT SHORT TO GROUND
SOLENOID CNTRL CKT TO SOLENOID CONNECTOR OPEN
L-R SOLENOID SHORTED IN SOLENOID PACK
TCM OPEN GROUND DEFAULT
TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK OPEN (L-R SECTION)

You need to check PIN # 53, 54. speed sensor and output. #53 needs to be 0v & #54 2.6v at checked conditions.

This will be the LR solenoid open circuit it is causing in the photo. This is the TCM on the side of the transmission. TOP VIEW
