speed density... from a piggyback??

Both of those articles leave me scratching my head.

Think about some of the things said in the first one, like

"The check engine light appeared because the mass air sensor disconnected. This didn’t affect my fuel map because the Mitsubishi ECU does not work on the fuel side. "

and

"We finished tuning at 10psi and the car felt good. By the way, without moving the G-Ready Profect Boost Control with this new map, the boost was improved from 8psi with the mass airflow sensor. The ignition map remained the same as before."

and

"However, at 3000 rpm’s when the turbo started boosting, we experienced a strange feeling."

1. A Mitsubishi ECU creates injector pulsewidths based purely on MAF signal and engine speed. If you disconnect the MAF, it uses some crazy rich limp map, which sucks.

2. What the hell does "The Mitsubishi ECU does not work on the fuel side" mean? Do the injectors measure airflow and decide how much to open? Does it have a carb? I don't get it.

3. Who the hell runs 10 psi on any sort of 4G63 engine? At 10 psi, you're not tuning.

4. What the HELL is the "strange feeling" they experienced going into boost? Did the car make a noise that got them excited? Did they become scared and wet themselves? Maybe the bad chinese food from the night before made them have to crap?

I'm going to e-mail that company, and likely get a laughable response back. Stay tuned.

The second article is just stupid. Who replaces a MAF sensor with a MAP sensor? That's one of the worst ideas I have evr heard, I think. I wouldn't want someone who thought that was a good idea anywhere near my car.

In response to your question, why do you need to switch to speed density? With every single part currently avaliable, you car will run better with a MAF simply because that's how it's designed to work.

I was researching the SMT6 used on dsm's, and i came across that article. The article was about an eclipse non-turbo 4g63, so thats why its only running 10 psi.

I was just looking to an alternative to buying the damn 200 dollar maf translator. I was thinking that if this piggyback could pull everything off, that it would be worth it for only a hundered more $ than the translator.
