I got a new deck in (Pioneer Premier DEH-P770MP) and decided to top off the audio part of my dsm, i would replace the 6 year old speakers in it (kinda hard to believe that 1999 was 6 years ago) anyways, i just wanted to know what speakers i should get, i believe that the fronts are 6 3/4" and the rear's are 6x9's right? i was looking at the Pioneer TS-A series speakers (not too expensive, and I kind of want all Pioneer Audio Equipment), just throw something at me and i'll see what i can do...

is there a difference between 1G and 2G though? i guess i have my blown left door speaker laying on the bench in my shop..never really thought about checking it for size..thanks

depends on what you want out of your stereo??? do you want to keep speakers hooked up to the deck or do you want them amplified? do you want componenets(tweets and door speakers) or just door speakers? i personally dont like pioneer speakers i have a deck from them but thats it. but if you just want something that sounds better then stock then just pick up some of there stuff.

basically all i want is something better than factory (it does have the infinity system, minus the deck), and can handle 50 watts... plus my driver's side door speaker has been blown since the day i got the car... anyways... i was debating between infinity kappa's and pioneers'... i guess i dont know... i also need to bypass my amp.. how would a guy do that? my bro is good with car stereos, but he lives 3 hours away from me, so he cant really get a good look at stuff and see what i need to do.. and no place sells the bypass for eclipses like i have seen for other car's...kinda weird IMO, if the stock amp put out more than my deck did, i would probably keep it, but i am pretty sure it doesnt.. just my guess though.

Excellent sounding speakers on a budget... JBL GTOs, and they can handle an amp too later much better than the PIoneer yellow cones and way betterthan the blues.

your head probably has about the same as the infinity system... they are both circa 20 watts rms. You will lose bass when you take out hte infinity system/ speakers and go to something better. It is like getting a new forged internals engine with a big cam, you give up the bottom end to get better top end performance if the analogy works for you. If you still want the bottom end too you need to increase the displcement aka subs...

bypassing the amp I wrote a tech article on... (interior exterior) if you are going with components up front... if not it will help you find the door speaker wires and rear speaker wires so you can connect them direct to the head.

AND No Dr3wStx!!! They ARE 6.75 inch speakers aka 6.5S (supersized) or 7".

6.5s work fine they just need new holes drilled in the OEM mounting ring... and there is plenty of room there for some big magnets. I have Kicker 6.5 Comp SUBS in the doors now...

I tend to shy away from infinity now due to some quality issues that I have seen with all their coaxials + the price. The JBLs sound better and are much cheaper. Front components and rear speakers for < the price of the front infini components. (they even beat the good pioneers on price and cost ---- about what the economy series pios cost)

thanks man, anyways, yesterday i had my interior ripped apart, so i figured i'd see what would happen if i disconnected my amp while music was playing, so i pulled the harness out and the coaxial like cable out and nothing happened, music was still going, sounded just the same, so i dont know if maybe the guy before me had bypassed it? i know he had a sub in the back and an amp, but took them out before he sold the car to me... but yeah, i'll check out those JBL's that you were talking about. :dsm:
