surrey,
okay ive done a search and come to the conclusion that i will use 6.5's for the back.

i want to use a component set up front, should i go with a 6.5 in the door with the tweet in the dash or step down to a 5.25 with tweet in the door (if this is possible)?

i would like to keep the stock look as much as possible, ie keep stock grills etc. i will also add a single 10" sub for the bass so i can take all the bass out of the speakers.

this is going into two cars, mine is a 98 gst spyder my brothers is a 96 spyder gs, the gst has a infinity system the gs possibly had one, it came with the dash speakers and had an amp that was bypassed by the previous owner for an aftermarket reciever.

6.5's in the front will provide the best mid bass you are seeking , though my audio install experiance in drop top cars is limited to 1 install , I went with the largest mid bass/mid range component speaker I could fit in the location as wind noise was a large factor.

I have replaced them with 6.5's, and the aftermarket tweeters too. You could even go up in sizes, I know there is a 8" sub someone had put in theirs, and there is a DIY or a Tech article on it as well.... double check here...
