Hey everyone,

I've sure this has been answered in the forums before.. but I really can't find it. I've done numerous searches, and still no dice.. I've found what size the front speakers need to be.. but I haven't gotten a full answer about the depth..

My question is: What is the maximum speaker depth in the front door panels of my 1994 Eclipse? I know 6.5" speakers fit in, but I wanna make sure there's enough depth for bigger magnets..

Can anyone help me out? I'm looking at an auction that ends in 30 minutes, and need to know as soon as possible..

Thanks!

I know if you're going with bigger magnets you're going to have to modify or do away with the plasic bracket that holds the stock ones.

I cant help you out before your auction ends, but I am tearing my doors apart tommrow for some new re-wiring and crap. While I'm there I can take some mesurements if you want.

yea i am gonna need the dimentions too please, I learned the hard way that the magnets had to be the same size with the rear speakers. thanks

Alright, after looking at it again. From the sheet metal of the door to the window when its down, is 5cm (just less then 2 inches)

The stock plastic basket allows for quite a big magnet and sits out half an inch from the sheet metal. The ones I put in have a 2.5 inch mounting depth and an 18 oz magnet, anything bigger then that isn't going to fit in the stock bracket.
The hole in the door behind the stock speaker grill isn't 6.5", its more like 3" so you cant fit an aftermarket speaker grill on there without cutting away at the door panel.

That's great man, thanks a lot.

I'll most likely have to adapt my new CDT Components to fit, but it really helps that you figured out the depth.

Thanks again for accomplishing that for me. :thumb:

I mounted a seven inch driver against the metal and the window drags just a little against the back of the magnet. The speaker's depth is 2 5/8".

Ah, perfect, thanks chuckster.

Thanks everyone for helping out.

I just ordered some new CDT Components, so hopefully they'll fit fine. If not, I'll add a little adaptor.
