Hey guys I think it’s time to swap out my cars factory speakers. I know that I have 5.25’s in the front and 6.5’s in the rear. Now I know it’s possible but how hard is it to convert the fronts to 6.5’s and 6X9’s in the rear?

When it comes to car audio I don’t know jack s*** haha. This car also has factory tweeters in the dash, so does that mean that the fronts are component speakers? If so can I buy a standard aftermarket front speaker set with the tweeter built in and still have the front stock tweeter fully functional? Or do I have to buy the full component speaker set with the crossovers?

I don’t want to amplify the interior speakers so I know that I’m going to want to go for a lower RMS rating so I was thinking 35RMS for the front and rear.

Also I have an aftermarket head unit (Sony CDX GT 320) 52W X 4

Also I know that the front OEM ones are 4ohm speakers so would I need to buy 4ohm aftermarket ones? I know if they are wired in series then all speakers add up. (ex 4ohms + 4ohms =8ohms total) and if they are wired in parallel then they divide (ex 4ohms / 4ohms =2ohms total) Anyway, do I want to replace them 4ohms for 4ohms? And are they wired in series or parallel?

Any help would be great!
Thanks and happy holidays!
:)

It's pretty straightforward & I've been doing my own speakers on my car since I bought my very 1st car 10 years ago & I've also installed head units. I've pretty much mixed & matched speakers throughout the years LOL and so far the most trouble that I've had installing them are splicing wires. Anyways, I think all cars are wired parallel but I'm not so sure since if its wired in series, I would think that if any of the speakers go out, the rest would go out as well (any error on my part & I would appreciate the correction), its the same thing with christmas lights, 1 of the bulb goes out and the rest follows.

I really only learned this stuff googling so basically I'm a google tech LOL. The setup on my car right now have built-in tweeters on both on the front and back & I love it & planning to do a custom tweeter where the oem ones are on the dash & I think there's a tech article on this. I think the ohms don't really matter as long as its a speaker just for cars (otherwise I would have not installed them myself if it was that complicated, haha.) Anyways, good luck.
