sounds like a turbo? maybe not

when acellerating it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up, over the noise of the engine and exhaust i can hear a fant whistling... i have no idea what this sound could be coming from. anyone have any ideas?
 
my car started making that noise a week before it stopped working.....bearings in the engine wore out...

i just replaced the engine so i dont really think thats the problum, i think it may be the bearings in the power stearing or the altinator
 
no it is no prob that is sounds like that my car does that to. it is your serpintine belt it is rubbing on your pullys because it is to tight. my car does that to and everyone asks me if i have a turbo because if i rev it or when it gets to high revs when i drive it sounds like a turbo spooling up. but it wont hurt ne thing. just make sure your belt is in good condition and put some belt dressing on it

My car does that when it is cold because of a crack in the 1g manifold. For the longest time I thought it was the turbo. I replaced the turbo and the sound is still there. I finally found where the crack is.
