It's dead and I have no idea why. All I know is that on my way home last night at about 10pm it was running great, I got on it a little and all of a sudden it started sputtering like it had blown an I.C. coupler. so I tried to get it to where I was able to pull over into a parking lot so I could work safely and eventually it just straight died and now it wouldn't re-start.So there it sits in a parking lot after pushing it about 1/4 mile waiting for me to go check it out to see what is wrong... From what I can tell from last night all my I.C. couplers are still on nice and tight.

Joy, what fun.:banghead: Glad i didn't start ripping the Subaru apart the other day to start changing the timing belt like i wanted to...

Since you were getting on it a little, good possibility something came unplugged, make sure to check all your ignition componets (PT plug, Coil plug etc..)

Good luck

Good luck

I got the car home this morning and found that the connector to the ignitor mod was a little loose, not sure when the lock tab broke off so I will need to replace that. But now I am battling another issue...Power distribution. Apparently it seems now to get the car turned on I have to play with the Pos and Neg terminals. Then once power is on and I click over the starter the car goes compleatly dead and I have to screw with both the Neg and Pos terminals until I get power back. So it looks like I have to replace both terminals and I may do both the Pos and Neg cables, while I am at it i may do a DIY grounding kit as well.

Sounds like a grounding/battery/alt. problem. You might say "No shit, Sherlock" but it can help to see it in black and white sometimes.
Let us know.

My prediction is just a bad ground.. but that alt. could be playing games too.

My car had similar symptoms. It was doing some funny things and when I pulled over into a gas station, the little dip from the curb was enough to shake the primary ground out of contact and poof, there she died.

I second the ground connection. Even if I'm wrong, it's the easiest thing to investigate and fix/check. Cheapest too!

Good luck sir.

i had this issue once aswell in my old gs-t.. Mine was the positive terminal.. the little box that attaches to it and holds the three fuses was broke most of the way and one day i hit a bump and the battery moved somehow.. Caused the terminal to hit the hood and killed the car...
Got out and the damn battery was welded to the hood.. When i finally just yanked it the weld broke and i found that terminal thing just hanging there...

I had the same problem before also. One time the negative battery cable loosened up when I was doing a burn out at the track....it was very embarrassing to have to push it back out of the way in front of everyone. I went to O'rielys and bought the marine type battery terminals and I haven't had a problem since.

I replaced the power and ground cables about a week ago (the night before the family and I left to go to phoenix) and I havent had a chance to try things out yet do to the fact that I still need to run a couple of new wires from the bat to the fues box. Once I do that I will do a BLT just to make sure and start her up.

I am about 2 seconds from stepping away from this G.D.P.O.S. forever... It just seems like it is just one thing, after another, after another. So I got the battery all put back together and started it back up. Seemed like it was running great. No real issues other than it is running rich which was expected, larger injectors and I need to tune out the MAF. I really only had a chance to do a little tuning to get the ECU to run at 14.7 without needing a huge +- compensation on the trims. Anyway I flashed the last decent ROM to the car and started trying to get the car to run somewhat in the 14.7 range but it didn't matter how many changes in either direction it did nothing (I changed the injector size bigger = made little to no change in AFR, changed the injector size smaller = car ran richer, actually kind of expected that but once I changed it the car wouldn't come out of O.L.) And now of all things after shutting the car off and on multiple times it seems that I need to change the starter...... all it does is grind when you try starting the car. :banghead:

Sorry, I just needed to vent for a minute. I am going to let my car cool off for a bit and I am going to start the brake change on my STI. That along with the timing belt change needed to be done like a month ago. I have had the parts just haven't had the time. I have been needing my Talon to be DD worthy for a while so I could afford not to drive the STI for about a week. Yea... you can see how that is going.

life sucks as well. I'm 17 went and bought a car thinking all I need was brakes new the reverse sliped out. Tends the reverse dosn't work at all . I had to do the whole break system. Got it going drove it 3000 miles 1 month of driving and the engine blows. FML!

Wow, you really are having some bad luck with this car! All the years I've had dsm trouble has tought me one thing. Don't give up after you've already done so much! It will straighten up sooner then later!

Thinking maybe a stage 2 or 3 long block from dsmgraveyard would be a good start to a new power plant!
