Hey guys,
I have a '98 GSX and I have DSMlink, I have had it for about 2 or 3 weeks. ANyway I have 550cc injecotors, Walbro 255 pump, 57 trim turbo, greddy front mount... I am having some trouble with the lower RPM's and I also have a question concerning timing. First the lower RPM's: The car seems to bog and kinda break up until it hits around 2 grand, then it runs fine. I tried leaning it out, richening it nothing both make it worse. I tried to retard the timing as well but thois didn;t work:confused: No matter how much I try to get it tuned it just won't stop doing that. Now as for timing if I advance it I know it will make a diffence, it will be faster, but I know I have to of course watch knock. Now what I am asking is should i go with more advanced timing or a more leaned out fuel mixture? Any suggestions at all Thanks a lot

I don't really understand what you're asking.

If it's breaking up down low, find the problem. Before you even try to tune, you need to make sure the fuel system is in order, and make sure you have ZERO boost leaks.

Then, make nothing but fuel changes. Set the global right and set the deadtime right, and don't touch anything else. If it still doesn't run right, it's not a DSMLink problem, it's elsewhere.

More timing is generally more power, but more timing also limits the amount of boost you can run as well as the amount of fuel you can take you. You have to find the best combination of boost, timing, and fuel.

sounds like a symtom of a dirty fuel filter. Its a pain to remove it due to the banjo bolt and the one on the bottom is a PITA to get loose. What "I" personally do when this prob arises.

check your plugs and ensure the gap hasn't grown or should I say worn.

gap them between .028 and .032"

torque them to 28 ft. lbs.

Then disconnect the main supply line just in front of the pass. rear tire and the fuel rail line.

Have a friend hold a container on either end and use a blow gun to blow through each way.

Do this 2-3 times each way until clean fuel comes through on both ends.

You'll run out of fuel?

Yes I know...get some clean fuel and I know (it sounds weird but it works) and blow it through in both directions.

You will be able to SEE how dirty the fuel in the filter is on each attempt.

Ohh and don't use over 50-60psi on your compressed air. At least I don't recommend it.

Easy way to clean out your fuel filter till you can have a reputable shop do it....and if they twist off a fuel line it comes outta thier pocket and not yours.

Check out your plug wires for any chaffing, burns or cracks too.

I bet its one of those probs.

Good luck.

If your running more alot of boost, odds are that you dont' have enough injector for that size of a turbo. I was maxing out my Green with 550's on 18psi on pump. Not sure what the stuttering is all about at low rpms, but I don't think it has to do anything to do with the dsmlink. I usually advance timing down around 3 degrees to spool the turbo faster. As for up top, you just need to play with it by advancing timing until you start to knock. If you have access to wideband, then you know if you need to add or take away fuel etc. Good Luck
