been reading religiously(spelling) about this knocking sound from my head
i had this post before about it
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/281964-phantom-knock.html
it has 2 vids
but i did alot of work to the engine since and have yet gotten rid of the knock
i put the vids up after people stopped looking at the thread,
right now i mainly want this up for people doing a search of this and cant find what there knock is and hope my thread helps them if they read through it,
anyway i just put a new fpr on and tightend down the cam caps
before tightening the caps looked like there was some gap between the cams and the rocker arms on the number 4 cylinder,

The lash adjusters(lifters) are responsible for taking up any slack in the rocker/cam/valve assembly. If there was a gap, the lash adjuster wasn't doing its job. Might consider cleaning or just replacing/upgrading the lifters.

If all the lifters r new in the head u should heere a slite tapping but only for like 15 mins i beleive, ill have to check with my uncle in law on that but im almost positive, but any longer than thatim not sure what i could be if u just put a remanned head on.

ya i just want to fix this sound,
not sure if i said it or not but i can hear the ticking clean as day if i put a mechanics stethascope on the
pcv valve on the valve cover, sounds like metal scraping metal if i jiggle the cas

Lifters tend to "tick" a little bit in normal operation. Trying putting a higher octane gas in. Octane reduces detenation, which is a cause of "knock". My two cents.

i only use the highest octane (93) this last time,
just did some reading about pcv valves though,
the only place i hear the knock is from my pcv valve on the valve cover
nothing around only on it.
could the valve in there be broke and just wiggling or something

i do have the revised 3rd gen lifters already,
i switched them around to see if the noise would go somewhere else (it didnt)
i changed the pcv valve and it didnt do anything,
i poke my stethascope all over the head and block pulling the #4 wire off and on
and cant find a single spot this noise is coming from,
i move the cas around back and fourth and the noise either stops or get worse depending on wich way i
go at around 2k rpm's the noise is almost gone but loudest the lower the rpm's
