1) What do i look for when i buy rims for a 2G DSM?

2) Do most greddy and HKS exhaust systems have a 50 state legal paper to prove that you can have them and use them (to avoid tickets and insurance increase) particularly is the HKS Carbon-Ti catback 50 state legal and the greddy evo2?

3) Lowering 2G DSM, should you just get some prings for like $200 and lower it or is it better to go for whole coilovers? (explain 2 me more about coilovers and the whole suspension deal)

4) When you buy a full exhaust system is there any other parts you must buy or just a regular put it in thing and ## good to go? Can it be done by yourself or does a shop need to do it to weld stuff and things of that nature?

The first thing I am going to say is that there is a lot of really good information on this site, you should do a lot of reading if only to get to know your car better. Fill out your profile as well so we can help you

1) wheels are a matter of taste. You need a 5X114.3 bolt pattern and a proper offset to match the width of the wheel. Check out vfaq for a lot more info as well as this site.

2) Not carb legal. And there is no such thing as 50 state legal exhaust as in some states and cities having any modified exhaust at all is illegal.

3) Don't just throw a set of springs on. If you want to use springs pair them with proper shocks/struts that suit the spring rates. Coilovers can be good but are more expensive. Do your research.

Again read read read and research some more. Dont be the guy that gives dsm's a bad rap because he just buys some radom parts and has issues all the time. There is a wealth of info available to you, make good use of it.

Well the stock GST and GSX comes with turbo. Lets say you plan to upgrade the turbo and you want to get a exhaust before you have enough money to afford a new turbo set up. Would it be ok to install a 3 inch exhaust system from HKS or something? Also whats the different between cat back and turbo back? And would there be problems if you put on a new exhaust system before you upgrade to a new turbo set up?

Putting on an exhaust is fine. You might run into some creep issues. Your first mod bar none, should be to put a proper boost gauge on the car.

A catback is an exhaust from the end of the catalytic converter back, turbo back should be from the turbo back including an 02 housing but sometimes is from the o2 housing back. wording really?

A new turbo set up should be the last thing on your mind right now. There is a lot more power to be made without a new turbo and a lot of supporting mods that are needed as well

Im asking all these questions cause im buying a 2g DSM in about 3 months or a little more and want to gain some insight so i know what to do when i buy it. What should i look for when im buying a 2G DSM GSX or GST, i would like to get the 97-99 version but if not the 95-96 is fine and i can convert it to 97-99(how much would that run me??) How much mileage is to much for a 2G DSM?

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but these are very, very basic questions which can be answered by reading. Spend some time in the FAQ and newbie section. Read up on instals at vfaq.com. You should find all the answers you need.

When you get the car, first do all the scheduled maintinence(sp?) and then follow the upgrade path found on the site. Thats one thing people usually do wrong, they get the car, and think they can just throw a new turbo on right away and be good. There are many things you have to do maintinence and modification wise before you can step up. It is good you came here asking questions before buying, so you know what to look for and what to and what not to buy and what your getting yourself into. And to answer your exhaust question like stated before, there are different laws in different cities and such. One thing I will tell you and probably a lot of other people on here also will tell you this, is that you can find much cheaper exhaust systems then the big names that work just as good or even better. And for the suspension part, if i were you i'd get both springs and struts, your better off replacing them both at the same time then having to do it twice.
Hope you find the right car for you. Jeff.
