Some Newbie Questions.

how much does it cost to repaint a 1g dsm? has a little rust and faded paint. just want a black paint job that will handle the wheather. also how reliable are these cars if you drive them nicely but with mods?

Question #1 As little as $50 such as in the thread with that title, all the way to a couple grand. Depends on what you want, the type of paint, how much prep work is needed......etc
Question #2 Driving them nicely will help as opposed to beating on it every day, but there is no substitute for proper maintenance. Maintenance is the key to reliability.

Paint costs a couple of hundred and the rest is labor.

Got mine painted at Earl Scheib because that was the cheapest around. It was $650 with a 6 yr warranty against peeling/chipping. It gets down to like $350. Looks good enough but if you get real close you can see the orange peel texture. My '95 with a 158k miles runs pretty good, hasn't overheated (can't say that for my crx or integra) or left me stranded yet, but I just got it.

Yeah, it all depends. Guessing the car is already black. If it is another color, it will be a pain because you have to, unless you don't care, paint the door jams and engine bay as well. But an average paint job can cost anywhere from a cheap job (around maybe a couple hundred, depending) to a very good job (1,000-2000+). It all depends. And yeah, the cars can be reliable, but it depends on a bunch of different things. Mods and how you drive the car are a couple factors. But you shouldn't have any problems hopefully. Well have a good one.

Look around and get quotes. I would say a well-done paintjob, depending on the color, should be around $1200-1500. I'm not sure if pricing varies through states.

i remember when i was looking for a paint job,i went to one paint shop and asked them,how much would it be to repaint the car?? the guy said if you want really good paint job,close to factory one, it would cost near 5k,i was like ,so he did the job for 1400, i got Black Metalic,wich looks really nice on a sunny day

Black is usually more exspensive due to the fact that it shows any imperfections and a lot of painters dont really like painting black due to this reason. So body work has to be perfect along with the quality of the paint. Usually cheaper black paint has more of a brown tint to it. A friend of mine does paint work and I have to try to convince him to paint my cars seeings both the 1g and 2g are both black .
