I swapped out my cruise cable for a non-cruise cable. Now the gas pedal is very sticky, as if the cable has a kink in it. You can also hear a scraping noise come from the cable. Very hard to do precise throttle inputs.

It is NOT the throttle body. I replaced the shaft seals and they are well lubricated. The throttle opens and closes smoothly and easily by hand with the throttle cable detached.

The cable does not have a kink in it that is visible from the engine compartment. It runs the way it should and is attached to the brackets above the fuel injectors.

The pedal itself moved freely before I swapped cables. Can anyone think of another reason it might be giving me so much resistance? Thanks

The cable is brand spanking new. Just put it in a couple weeks ago. The problem existed from day one with the non-cruise cable. It is a new OEM non-cruise cable straight from Mitsu.

Check the cable where it runs through the fire wall. This happened with another customer's car, and we just played around with the cable and found that it was just not run through the fire wall correctly.

I bought a non cruise for a 2g. At 0% wot you can push the cable down where it hooks up to the tb plate. Is it supposed to be tight or what?

Thanks, I'll check that out tonight

another fix is to spray some lube down the end of the cable so the slide runs without friction, worked on mine.

It seems that some how as I was installing it the angled metal tube that routes the cable through the firewall got bent at a sharper angle than it should be (this is on the engine side of the firewall). With the piece still bolted to the firewall I pulled on it a bit to give it less of a sharp angle, and I lubed the cable from both ends. The gas pedal now moves freely with just the right amount of resistance.

Thanks for the input!

i'm having the same problem with my new non-cruise control came, what was used to lube the cable becuz i took my out two and reinstalled it. It still makes that scraping type noise but i don't see where it's hitting.
