so.. why did i run so slow??

couple months ago my car was runnin decent , had my new big16g on , decided to go to the track. my best run of the night was a 14.6 wtf?? at the time these were my mods

3inch catback
b16g fully ported 34mm flapper
550cc RC injectors
255 walbro HP pump
SAFC
full hard IC pipes
ACt 2100 clutch
MBC

why with all that crap did i run a 14.6?? i still dont get it, i wasnt "tuned" really, just kind of blind tuned with some settings people with similar mods were running. but still i should have been almost a 13 right?

since then ive added

2.5 inch DP
external dumped o2 housing
act 2600
new tranny
palm logger


with those i should be at low 13s possibly high 12s right? assuming im tuned well, which my friend can help me with his 1g was always tuned awesome. im just really dissapointed in my car up to this point. only thing i can think of maybe my stock FPR is getting overrun from the 255 high pressure walbro? should i get a AFPR, would that matter THAT much?
 
there's too many variables to really say. and we don't have any infomration on real problems.it's just hard to say.
 
what kind of BOV are you running? and how much boost?
 
I would check for leaks a few weeks ago i was running mine and it was running like shit felt really slow found out i had two TB bolts missing so i had a huge leak. Remember boost/vaccum leaks are the enemy pressure test that biotch!!!

I thought auto's were better at launches. Do you power brake when you launch?? Try power braking and see if it helps with your times as well as the fore mentioned advice. :thumb:
 
Assuming you can pull a nice 1.8 60ft, you could probably see low 13's.

an AFPR would be nice with the 255 too..

and get that thing tuned man. now that you have a logger, you can do wonders.

also, like mentioned above...pressure test that thing! you may have boost leaks.

That is a definite possibility. Running too rich can certainly cause a performance decrease. I would certainly suggest an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

As well, your lack of driving skills may also be to blame. I'm not trying to trash talk, but what kind of 60 foot time did you pull on that run? Were your shifts fast and hard?

If you were using the stock cat and downpipe, then that definitely has something to do with it as well. The stock downpipe has a nasty bend in it which can't be good for performance. As well, the stock cat definitely will make the turbo spool a lot slower.
 
also forgot to mention im running no cat now also....

its not my driving, my worst time that day was a 14.9 i improved on that my last run of the night was my 14.6, heres my full slip

in the last 1/8 i only gained 17 mph, is that normal?

i was running 16PSI, 1G BOV

my SAFC says my throttle gets to like 97% open usually, rarely ever says 100%

i know i had good vaccum at the time, i just pressure tested it recently, no leaks and it still feels kinda slow. although now i have a messed up wastegate actuator but im replacing that today.. and that just happened recently.

any more info you guys need? i still dont know...
 
Your still on the stock sidemount right? Maybe by 3rd gear you were heatsoaking bad leading to knock and pulled timing. My car ran 78.89 in the 1/8 and ended at 101.86 in the 1/4. So your def. losing a ton of power topend.
 
also i noticed only sometimes, since removing my cat, i have white smoke from my exhaust... i know thats supposed to be coolant but im not leakin any the levels look normal i doubt thats what it is... maybe its just my exhaust cleaning itself out. happens at idle, dont notice at WOT. and its only sometimes...
 
It's all in the tuning.

Your MPH is waaay low, definitly something wrong...either really lean or really rich.

Go do some 3rd gear pulls with the logger and post up the results.
 
Thats exeptionally slow, you should be into high 12's low 13's with good driving, like said above a stock AWD can do 14.7 + free mods + intake and exhaust gets you 14.3, you arnt even there and you have way more mods then that.
 
would a blown headgasket make me run shitty? i have white smoke in my exhaust... would that affect my 1/4 times ?
 
A blown headgasket will definately make your car run slower from lost compression but it seems that your car get extremely slow after the 1/8. Did you happen to log any pulls?
 
no i/c yet? heatsoak is for sure... but his first run should be decent then
 
correction, actually bone stock, it is nearly impossible to run faster than a 15.7 due to the 2g bov leaking at 9psi, after that, low 15's is acheivable, then exhaust + up boost = mid 14's
 
Correction, you can break into high 14's with a stock 2g, 1g's however can take you alittle further Stock vs Stock, at best as I said around 14.7 with an AWD I Believe 93 AWd's were the lightest of the AWDs, and some had the 6/4 combo.

I cant remember the sourse but it was that car, that got the 14.7 stock. :laugh:
 
Running all the proper Mods with a 2G along with Race Gas and Well tuned.

You will hit 12's with a 16G.

As for Pump gas low to mid 14's would be normal for FWD. However with an AWD I'd think for pump you'd have no problems running 13.7's. Depending on how much boost your running and how well the tuning is.

Definetely need to improve the tuning / Check the car for problems.
