Got a pic of my 14b today while I had all the intake piping off. I made a thread a week or two ago or something like that about my car only hitting 7psi. Here's why... 16g coming soon!

Yeah I run an air filter LOL. It has zero shaft play but apparently something got it there at some point. Honestly I think it might've been from when I set the mass air sensor on the ground with the air filter up when i first got the car when i changed the air filter. So it mighta got a little pebble or somethin caught in the little star filter thing at the bottom and sucked it through. Car still runs fine though, just only making 7psi. I'll be in the market for a 16g soon since they're going for ~$250 on Craigslist rebuilt.

I would be very hesitant about a 16g for $250 off of CL... If it were a real MHI turbo, even rebuilds go for ~$400. I am betting it is a Chinese knock off "rebuilt with MHI internals". Don't fall for that. I did. Most knock off turbos being sold now cannot be rebuilt with MHI internals, as they have T3 sized shafts to compensate for the lower quality steel. The MHI stuff does not fit. There are a lot of jerks out there selling these "rebuilt" turbos, knowing that most people won't be able to tell if it was rebuilt or not, and all they are is the same cheap garbage unmodified that is being sold on eBay for the same price.

Unless it is local and you can go see it for yourself to make sure it is what you're expecting, I wouldn't waste the money.

Also: WTF Um, I wonder what your pistons look like... Yikes.

LOL holy piss! that comp. wheel is chewed up man!

like the above poster said, be careful buying turbo's off CL man, just make sure you know all your serial #'s and make sure its a genuine MHI 16g. I have recently been seeing quite a few small 16g's on the classifieds here going for 250-450, you could probally scoop one up. Im running a s16g and love it!

OUCH!! Just think of all those little pieces of metal shavings being ingested into the engine.:( Definitely want to remove the intercooler and all the piping and clean it out really well.

Engine is good. Piping is good. I really think it happened before I got the car. It runs perfect besides not hitting full boost.

I found a genuine mhi 16g on Craigslist for $250 a couple weeks ago so I know they're out there. And I would obviously check it out first. But I might get one off the classifieds if I can't find anything local
