So the dark one is cylinder2 the light one is cylinder 3. No wideband car seems to run fine compression is great. So go you think cylinder2 is shot only 80 miles in the build.

Id agree with such make sure all youre injectors are clicking and keep driving it for awhile then pull em and check again

80 miles isn't really enough to tell depending on how you have been breaking the engine in. If the car runs fine keep driving it.

Been using the motor mans method until I noticed some issues with the head that was on it then replaced the head with a known working one.
Started the same method and I figured I would check the plugs.
But worried that cylinder 2 rings are screwed up after seeing the color of
plug number 2. all the others are the lighter color. The car seems to run fine besides a little idle issue.

hmm.. or it could be a coil issue/spark plug wire issue. If there is a difference in the temperature of the spark being produced by that plug, could be how your getting the charred look on it. Need a multi meter to tell though, also, i'm not sure if a bad coil would effect compression?

I would not think coil pack, because each coil fires 2 plugs, so if that were the case there would be 2 plugs not firing correctly. I would think plug wire if you're going that route.

The coils are brand new just placed them on the car about a week ago or 10miles ago.

ok, then I would start looking at your spark plug wires to start. Basically it sounds like your car is sputtering due to improper spark plug firing, this could be from the plug wires, or an incorrect gap on the plugs. Are all of your plugs gapped correctly?

Yeah they are all sit at .028 and they are NGK BPR6ES
I will double check after work but I gapped them all at the same time.
I will also check the wires so if I understand thinking
it is black like that because it isn't firing correctly. I will keep you posted thanks

Yes exactly these use waste spark coils so it would look like that in both cylinder 2 & 4. Also it looks like its not igniting the fuel mix. Look how the tip of the plug is black but the body is still bare metal. Looks like there is no burn to leave carbon on the rest of the plug.

Well a few things can cause plugs to look like that. If the plugs are wet to the touch when you pull them, that could be a sign that oil is entering the combustion chamber, but some black on new spark plugs is normal, but I would venture to think your engine is running a tad rich judging by how quickly they turned fouled like that.

When your checking the wires, look for any nicks or cuts in the insulation, as this can cause arcing with metal it touches (IE the valve cover).

I once had a coil pack that would fire one plug fine while the other plug got very little spark. I would not rule it out completely.

What makes me think its running rich, or lacking a total ignition, is looking at the plug from cylinder 3 looks normal. Thats the way the plug should look, with the electrode a light beige color. The other one has alot of carbon build up, and since you say you just installed them I would replace them and see if the condition repeats itself.

Thanks guys can't wait to get home and see what I can come up with. Gotta love all the knowledge on here.

Hey havel, make sure you give us an update on a compression test and or how the plugs look.

I know it has been awhile but the plugs still look exactly the same. I replaced wires and the plugs once again and they come out exactly the same as the first picture. But now it is sputtering when trying to drive it at any throttle I give it.
I have no clue to be honest this thing is really starting to p*** me off.
