this guy at school told me today that he was going to get a porsche, but it's front wheel drive not backward wheel drive (exactly what he said) so it will do good in the snow. I just turned and starred at him for a second and said yea, ok you do that.

Anybody else run into someone totally car illiterate and they don't even realize it?

When i was in school, which was a couple of months ago, at Wyotech...This dumbass from texas was telling us that he had a Twin Turbo 69 Camaro, with over a thousand HP, that he lost in a street race 2 days before class started. Ohh and hes got an 05 super duty, pushing 80PSI, Sitting on some huge tires with a huge lift. Ohh and he had the nerve to show us pics of HIS truck.. Bullsh*t

Yea here is what what happened. I was at the gas station and this dude with a focus was revving his engine. It sounded weird so I asked him what he had in the hood. Now this car had a cheezy body kit on it and these ghetto chrome rims and an exhaust tip. He opens the hood points to the alternator and tells me its a turbo. He was being completely serious. I didn't say anything to him but yea that is cool I guess. And then I realized he put pinholes in his exhaust.

There was a guy like that in Wyoming..This guy had a 2000 and up Tiberon. Welll this guy shoots his mouth about his turbo and huge front mount. But then you opened his hood and there it is, zip tied to the inner fender his turbo, and a front mount zip tied as well. The kid tried telling everyone about boost and such, but were not fools.

i feel bad because my one friend has a ford taurus which hes into cars alot too, but his parents refuse to buy him a different car..

so every couple of weeks he tells me about these new cars that hes looking into

at first it was his friends RSX that had carbon fiber all over, a brand new turbo and just rediculous amounts of cash in it and the guy with the RSX said he was trying to sell it for like 17k... so he kept bragging to me how he was gonna buy it and how he would finally have a really cool car with over 300 hp and the whole time im thinking psh yea right you cant even get rid of the tarus how are you gonna buy this thing

now hes telling me hes gonna buy an e46 M3, on top of that, he will buy some stage 2 turbo which he saw some kid on youtube install which will but him over 1000hp "supposedly" for an extra like $10k.. and he plans to do this by summer

i feel bad cause he loves cars but he cant do anything with his, but hey he's goin to school for engineering so maybe one day he'll get what he wants.. i just hope hes not a chode about it if he does finally get a cool car

I have a neighbor who owns a Porsche Boxter. He's always wanted to buy a Porsche and he set goals years before hand to ensure he'd have one by his 40's. And he does.
Honestly, it's a success story.

But then there's the funny part. Since his car is a Porsche, after all, he insists that it likes to rev high..and that that's what the car likes and how it needs to be driven. So he literally redlines it in first driving up and down the street we live on. He doesn't drive fast - he just drives the shit out of his car at 15mph.

I wish I had a video to post, it's truly a sight to behold.

And yes, he had to get his head rebuilt within a year of ownership.

There's a guy I know who has a cobalt ss. He said that the supercharger has a special valve on it that closes when he puts it in reverse so the supercharger doesn't suck the air back out of the engine.

these are all really good and funny stories guys keep them coming. This guy from wyotech always talked about his "10 second" lt1 camaro that had like 650whp and all this jazz but would NEVER pop the hood, said he wont race unless the race is for 1k or more. (knowing none of us college kids had it) and his license plate said ullbsorry on top of all that. Well on one student day he brings his car into school to work on something underneath the hood and the whole class runs over to check this "monster" out only to find the stinkin thing still had a stock intake and manifolds. What are these ppl thinking!

Yes, a non "S" Boxter is truly nothing brilliant in my eyes either. But like the OP mentioned it's about people who "think" they know about cars.

It doesn't much matter to me what other people's goals are. But if they plan for them and meet them, more power to them.
