This will probably get deleted where its more or less a rant, but Im absolutely displeased with the fact that I ordered my 2g install kit from Slowboy Racing for my brand new evo 3 16g turbo I purchased thru them as well.

Who ever heard of selling an INSTALL KIT (whos sole purpose is to provide you with a way to install your 16g type turbo on a 2g dsm) and have it NOT include everything you need for installation?

And its not like the kits are only $50. Its $180. Thats nearly $200 and you are STILL required to ghetto rig the crap out of your old 2g parts to make it work.

If I new id be ghetto rigging pipes to fit Id have just saved my HARD EARNED money and bought a used j pipe of craigslist for like $15 and a SS oil feed from FP or something for $20-30.

The kit requires you to REUSE your old water lines and banjo fittings, and not only that but you then have to go bend the shit out of them just to get them to orient right and keep ## fingers crossed you dont kink the water flow too badly while doing it.

Secondly they dont even send you new crush washers... apparently spending $1170 with a company isnt enough I need to go driving around to find a store that sells the appropriate size crush washers, then waste even more of my money buying them. So great now I have the parts I need to ghetto rig my brand new equipment to work with my car...

Oh wait... just kidding. Now it is pretty obvious the oil return line is NOT going to fit on the brand new evo 3 turbo... but does this come with the install kit?
Of course not.
MY options?
Ghetto rig my existing oil return line and prey that doesnt leak.
Orrrr purchase a new oil return line that WILL fit.

Im sorry but paying nearly $200 for an INSTALL kit that is SPECIFICALLY for installing a 16g turbo into a 2g car and being told it comes with EVERYTHING I need to install this turbo you kind of expect to not be spending MORE money on top of that and wasting even more time trying to track down the extra parts you need.

Case and point... 2g install kit= HUGE waste of money.
I feel like I have been ripped off and mislead.
Why would ANYone want to depend on old rusted parts to keep their brand new investment running?
And have to ghetto rig them to work?

This is BS.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Dude seriously? Stop being a little girl and take responsibility for your own F%ck up, tired of all the dumb newbs on this forum whining about shit they should have researched more before they bought. So you have to buy new crush washers, big deal. I just bought all the crush washers from STM for $13 shipped, and its your fault you blew a shitload on a turbo that could have been had for much cheaper.

in case you missed the whole point of this, if you order a kit that has everyythinggg to install it it should actually contain everything.
I researched the best I could with it not being even listed on their site... and yea big deal copper crush washers are not horribly expensive... so why not include them in the almost $200 install kit?

When I was on a 16g years ago I preferred to buy my 16g install kit from SBR rather than extremepsi because it came with everything I needed. Nothing else had to be purchased or modified.

hey sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I figured I needed an update to all the lovely peoples who posted +1's for customer service...

I am STILL waiting to get the parts that were promised me.
This company is all about talking the talk when the conversation is on the boards and public for potential new customers to see/read. But when it comes to actually making good on the things they say... well hey Im still waiting. Order placed at the end of JULY/beginning of AUGUST.

Ridiculous.

Wow, I've never really bought from them but I kind of feel detour to buy. More then half of the threads started on dsmtuners are negative. I got nothing against them because it's not fair, we don't hear the good things they've done. I think it's time to put this thread to rest.

Who said they were sending what?

You GOT WHAT YOU ORDERED - we have sold maybe 1000 of these kits in the past ten years and you may be one of the only complaints. If you cannot work on your car - find someone to help you. Or - just come bash Slowboy - it's like the cool thing to do, especially when you don't know who else to blame.

If you are waiting from something from SBR or waiting on something from an employee, two very different things. So please tell us what you are waiting on and from whom.

Slowboy -

People really need to stop crying about stupid stuff, really these are 20 year old cars that vendors are selling parts for, and barely making profit at that. You are lucky you can still get parts for your dsm because of the vendors.

Also, SLIGHTLY bending the water line is not a hack, its not like you need to bend it 180 degrees or anything...

When your modding a car things arent going to line up perfectly all the time...

When I was a newb I also purchased the install kit from SBR for my 2g, and everything was just peachy.

You got what you paid for.

I sent you a used one that i had for FREE. I know it never made its way to you, i sent it parcel post to cut back on fees since i was paying for it out of my own pocket. You can talk all the crap you want, i explained what you got when you got it, and sent you a FREE item to work with it from my own stash so it was easier on you. I dont know what else you want from me.

We have 2 different install kits for the 16g, one for the "DIY, old school DSM'er" who doesn't mind tweaking a few things and one for the rest of the population. You got the basic install kit that does require some modification of stock components. Crush washers should have been included and if they were not please PM me and I will correct that for you. The other kit is the full install kit that has every last part down to the 1g water lines and oil return line. I understand that $180 is not pocket change by any stretch of the imagination but the oil return line alone runs in the neighborhood of $75. I would be more than happy to upgrade you to the full kit for whatever the difference in cost it. Please feel free to PM me with any comments/concerns/questions and I will do my best to help you out.

That is a falicy. You can get the oil return line for much less through JNZ. Don't over inflate prices and you will get more sales just an FYI.

Not to bump this thread bashing another vendor, but there is a bit of misinformation here.

The 1G oil return line, We sell for about $62, dealer MSRP is around $80. The 2G oil return line we sell for $12, MSRP is $15. When customers call us for a return line I explain the price difference and what you have to do to make the lower price one work. I also suggest that a SS or Pushon line with billet flanges is not much more the a 1G line. That was they have options, I know some customers are more mechanically inclined than others. It basically comes down to time or money with modifying cars.

Andrew thanks for the compliments by the way! Glad we could help you with the build and hope it is going well.

Well i have an Evo 3 16g turbo and honestly i would just go on ebay and pick up the J pipe and get the oil feed line from bonehead performance... I found it while checking for the oil feed line on ebay and i think they only sell it on their ebay store. Anyway they sell the line specifically for 2g's putting a 16g in their car. Has proper fittings and everything :D

+1 to OP researching. I'm a n00b and could have told him more than he knew (from researching) eBay install kit. I got a cheap used j pipe and actually had a local hose company make me a oil feed for 20. I have not ordered from SBR yet, but I will as Joe has been very helpful, and I haven't even bought anything at all from them yet. Bottom line, IMO, if you don't want to modify, stick with factory items, if you want to go bigger, expect some modding.

This thread is absolutely useless now. No need to keep bumping it guys.
